M&S new season

I've just had a look at the M&S website as I'm planning a shopping trip next week. Despite all the suggestions M&S have had from Gransnetters it really doesn't look as though the clothes have improved this season. There are some very strange looking tops in weird prints on offer. (I did a cut and paste on a strangely designed pale pink Per Una tunic affair but I can't seem to get it to paste on here}. Is there any hope for M&S?

I foundf the pink horror and it's even worse than it looks in the picture grin the fabric is horrible! And it's £39.95!

I bought a coat from M and S and got £10 off with my sparks card, and until then had thought it a waste of time.

Glad you found it Deedaa.
See you in Reading.

I did take a photo but haven't had time to try and put it on here. If you go back to the first page there is a link to M&S's picture of it on the model. You might want to be sitting down when you look at it though!

Heavens above - that blouse is truly grim!

Eeeek, I may be a granny but I'm.not ready for that insipid looking thing any time soon. shock

I used to buy a fair amount from M&S but lately I go in, wander round and see nothing I want unless I need undies or their foot glove shoes and boots. I see much better clothing in M and Co but there isn't a store for miles.

Am i the only one who likes granny knickers ? up until i had my hysterectomy i used to wear lacy little knickers or boyfriend trunks, then i discovered granny knickers, i threw the other lot out and filled the drawer with lovely comfy big ones

grannypiper OMG I hope never to go down that route!

It seems to me that the various branches have very different stock. In Cardiff the shop in the town centre has much more business type clothing whereas the big out of town store is more relaxed styling. There are also two much smaller stores on the outskirts and their stock is often much nicer. I sometimes go to Harrogate and although a smallish branch often has the nicest range.
As to underwear - I like the high leg no VPL pants but the comfy ones have disappeared and the rest are too short!

I have a few favourites. I buy those button through cardigans (never open the buttons) and I have them in 6 or 7 colours. I wear them under a gilet or a jacket. They cost 15 Euros in Germany M&S, and being a very English garment are quite popular here.
The big Cardis s are also popular in Germany and my neighbour's daughter just went by and it looked awful from the back. She looked like a big beetle standing up. But she is a slim blonde, I dread to think what her mother or I would look like in it.

What I find annoying about M&S is that there never seems to be any staff around to ask where things are - and the Petite section is so small. I suppose at least they have a Petite section, which is more than can be said for a lot of shops.

I can't even buy the underwear I want online now; try to pick the colour and it won't let me, then tells me that I can't choose number of items without picking the colour!
Give in.

Re the pink blancmange blouse, there is a review on the M&S site and apparently the sleeves are very long ..... otherwise a very pretty top and the blush colour is flattering on apparently.

I suppose if you are a size 6 flat-chested rosy-cheeked brunette it might just look OK
No? oh, all right then.

A size six with long arms?

Elegran Sun 02-Oct-16 12:32:05

Eloethan Perhaps the designer of the store thought that petite was a description of the section, not the merchandise?

Jalima Sun 02-Oct-16 12:36:46

One of those tall lanky models Elegran, like giraffes?

ie 'Model is size 6 and 6'2"'

Eloethan Sun 02-Oct-16 14:11:59

Elegran You would certainly think so. It's the same in other stores too - about one set of rails for Petite, and sometimes material in very large, bright print which I don't think is very flattering when you're on the short side.

The Pink Horror indeed Deedaa. Only(!) £79 for the jacket ?
M&S are beyond saving if they consider this as fashionable. It's a sort of camiknickers pink....... <gulp>

Deedaa Tue 29-Nov-16 21:46:01

I think I would pay them £79 to not make me wear it!

One of my favourite shops and definetly planning a trip soon.

I went into M&S (Manchester city centre)for the first time in ages this week. I tried 2 jumpers and 2 blouses on and bought nothing. The fit of the jumpers was weird and the fabrics of everything was cheap and nasty to say the least. I think it will be some time before I venture back. I did go into White Stuff and could have bought lots - lovely designs and nice fabrics.

Deedaa Sat 10-Dec-16 20:33:07

I went out to day in head to foot M&S - the trouble is it was all at least ten years old tchhmm

mumofmadboys Sat 10-Dec-16 22:39:27

Which at least shows M and S clothes generally last well!
