I can't get my boots on!

I have a lovely pair of Hotter Pixie boots in burgundy which I have had a couple of years now and are a comfort of the winter months. I could have cried the other day when I pulled them out to put on and found that my balloon feet would not go in them, even though they weren't that puffy that day, I thought. Not happy.

I love and trust Hotter. Do any of you recommend another pair of boots of theirs which are still fashionable with extra fitting and probably a close tab over so that I can adjust when my feet are acting up. I have looked on their site and even though they look great, I would like some honest opinions as it is a lot to pay out for a pair of boots and then have trouble getting them sent back if not correct. Thank you, my friends. X

Just checked - the socks I like are Quechua and they are £4.99 for two pairs. www.decathlon.co.uk/arpenaz-50-high-adult-grey-id_8329334.html (and other colours)

Those socks are just what I've been searching for. Because I'm a size 4/5 4-7 are always too big. I can't wear wool and I need arch support. There's a Decathlon on the way to Nottingham so I'll check them out. Thanks Elegran.

I hope they have them, Tegan There were none in their online shop. If you can't get them in Nottingham, let me know and I'll get you some and bring them in December. (will you be there? I could post them if not.)

They are VERY comfortable.

May be back in the online shop by now.

Where can I get seamless socks Please? O also have mystery wrinkles under my feet!

Elegran Sun 30-Oct-16 17:06:40

Here, miep www.decathlon.co.uk/arpenaz-50-high-adult-grey-id_8329334.html but the sock shop online also has them - fancier colours and designs than Decathlon, which is mostly for hiking and that sort of activity.

I thought I was the only one with phantom wrinkles (in my socks, that is. I know many of us have phantom face wrinkles which vanish when we take off our specs)

I have a catalogue from www.widerfitshoes.co.uk and some of the boots look very modern. I think the company was formerly DB. The shoes that are stocked in our local shop do look rather old fashioned, but I think they stock those that they can sell, whereas the catalogue has loads of styles in it.
I just wish shoes were actually foot shaped (and fashionable to be so) and did not make our big toes bend in to fit into the toe part. Babies and young children have a straight inner edge to the foot but sadly generally adult shoes are not made in that shape so we end up with problems, claw toes, bunions, etc.

I wore a DB shoe yesterday for the first time (just the one, the other foot is clad in an orthopaedic boot!) and it was very comfortable, not that I walked/hobbled far.
Plenty of wiggle room for my toes, but stayed firmly on my foot.
Not the ultimate in glamour, but I don't care any more.

Sorry to resurrect this, but I have the same old battle to find some comfortable ankle boots for my awkward feet.

I have quite wide feet, E fitting. Also high instep, funny big toes that wiggle a hole in shoes unless I have a deep footbed. And if that weren't enough, thick ankles, so need extra room/adjustability there.

I have not got on with hotter in past but may try the Whisper Boots as they have 2 zips, so should be easier to pull on.

Do you all wear socks with your boots? Do they then get a bit too hot? If so, I need larger size.

I looked at the Cosy feet but they are sooo frumpy. Why can't they make them a bit more fashionable?

I like the look of Wider Fit more www.widerfitshoes.co.uk/sp+ladies-ladies-boots-bernay+bern6. I did order from them several years ago and it all went back. Didn't fit and a bit cheap looking in the flesh.

Hotter leather does look good quality, compared to the others. I have had Clarks Un, but they have no new styles in ankle boots this year. I have their Everlay Mandy (What a name, sounds rude!!!)

I did try some Padders boots but they will also be going to the charity shop.

I think I'll have to "gird my loins" and try the Hotters first.
