Oh Lucky, that's exactly my one and only experience, too! It's put me off forever !
I'm glad to hear the Caci facials work I am trying to find a salon locally that does them- they sound really good and I love a bit of gunk!!
My Mum used to do facials at home in our bathroom, to raise money for charity. I've got a photo somewhere of me sitting on the end of the bath watching her. She used some kind of white paste, made from a powder she had made up at Boots.
I sometimes use a tea tree peeloff mask - refreshing.
I had a facial as a gift from my DD - not sure what she was trying to tell me!
I hated it! - I had had a root filling the day before at the dentist and honestly found that preferable!
It was just one bit of gunk after another - I went straight home and washed my face! Every time I heard more gunk being squished out of the bottle my heart sank.
I have a microderm facial with a collagen mask every 5 to 6 weeks. It's a very light CACI treatment. Costs about £40, lasts about 45 minutes. Makes my skin much brighter and fresher!
Totally recommend it
Ok don't tell anyone but I have been having a course of CASI facials as I know from experience they are the most effective for toning the muscles in the face. I am on number 6 of 10 and already my eyebrows have lifted, my jaw and neck have lifted and my skin is so much better due to the gentle peel. When the course is finished I will have regular monthly topups. Vanity or just like looking good for my age? I'm 67 and have no intention of 'letting go'. We are not rich but everyone spends their money on what gives them pleasure as you can't take it with you.
When I was at work I had a monthly Dermatologica facial as well as the benefits to my skin it helped me dispel some of the extreme stress caused by being an NHS manager (they must need them daily at the moment) but now in retirmet I have one every few months at the local Elemis salon. I have had Clarins and Decleor facials and like the all equally well.

I just love having a facial in a luxurious spa with calming music in the background. So relaxing. Espa is my favourite brand as I love the smell. Most beauty spas have at least one facial suitable for stressed or aging skin.
If you can afford it, Nankate, see if you can book a lovely facial and relaxation session for yourself. If nothing else, it should help you cope with the after effects of your illness. Or perhaps someone could get you one for Christmas.
I love a facial and have a pre Xmas one booked at an Elemis salon. I always used to have Dermalogica but we don't have one in town and my skin used to look really clear and bright then. I used to have a monthly facial but I had a career then and felt the expenditure justified in helping me deal with the stress but now I'm retired I cant rally justify the expense as they have gone up a lot so it 2/3 times a year. I enjoy a Clarins one which I have had some times but Elemis and Espa are my favourites for anti ageing treatments.
I occasionally have them, usually if I get a voucher for local beauty salon. I like Decleor, nothing comes close to the smell for me. I would suggest for a home facial, put on some soothing music, cleanse and tone your face, then apply a face mask, Liz Earle do a good nourishing one and Clarins comfort is lovely, on the subject of Liz Earle I would also recommend her eye lotion. Cant remember exact name, but I soak two cotton pads with it, and apply it to my eyes, its amazing . After you waken up LOL, gently remove any excess with your cleanser. The facial muscle exercises are interesting, must try them.

I do them occasionally and the drooping eyelid one on a daily basis
I think it helps.
There is no difference between facial muscles and muscles in the rest of your body, so if it's possible to tone your arms a la Michelle Obama, why not your face too
Hi Nan I love having facials, it's always a treat. The young woman at my favourite local beauty salon that I regularly book with is a skilled beautician with a featherlight touch. I generally just look for special offers but will have something hydrating. It definitely improves the appearance of my skin. If I book a session late in the day I tend to drop off! I find it so relaxing.
My mother used to do facial exercises, as children we would roll about laughing at her antics. She would jut her chin out and "chew fresh air" believing that it would improve the muscle tone in her jaw and neck and so on. I don't do any of that!
When I was working I used to have the occasional facial and I must admit my skin did look better.
I am getting better after having been ill for 6 months which I think has taken toll on my face and I now have bags under my eyes which I think are caused by the steroids I am taking.
Now to the questions:
Anyone else have facials ? What type/name ?
Anyone do their own at home, if yes what do you use ?
Anyone do facial exercises ?
Thanks.
