I have a couple of LBDs but now I've gone grey they seem every stark and draining. Yesterday I wore one with a red and silver shawl/scarf loose around the neck and front. This was an improvement. Any other ideas? I have very pale blue eyes and don't like my neck!

That sounds lovely chelseababy. I would have said a coloured statment necklace but if you like to hide your neck I think various scarves tied in different ways are your only option. D suggests you wear a bib tchgrin ( she has a wiered sense of humour)

Beautiful scarves are good. Look for a winter white silk or cashmere scarf. It will look stunning on black with grey hair over it! The winter white will give your skin a glow. Another idea: a glittery scarf or soft bow will add sparkle and glamour. Wear sparkly or bright coloured earrings.

If you wish to hide your neck, then do not wear a necklace.

I really nice quality statement necklace but no earings -a couple of silver bangles maybe you cant beat an LBD.

tiredoldwoman I have very thin lips and usually avoid red lippy. Thanks for the suggestion though I might give it another try. teetime yes silver better than gold.

My first thought was a pink scarf.

pearls, always flattering, either ear rings or necklace. or silver, which is better than gold. otherwise pretty scarf in pastel colour perhaps baby pink or blue to go with your eyes, or even pale grey maybe to tone in with hair. i am sure you will look great. i always feel happy in my lbd, even though i know i need to shift some weight. but thats another story.

Maybe try a trendy colour rinse like Pixie Lotts "paint" from Superdrug, which adds very subtle shades like blue, pink, lilac to your hair, it's wash in, wash out, so worth a go, I like the blue one on my grey hair making it go silvery. Other than that, pearl earrings, chunky jewellery would be great . Just don't go for all over black.

When I had to wear black for work I always found that if I went in on my day off wearing coloured clothes everyone said how well I looked. Black is really very difficult.

I have white silver hair and black really shows it off!

Big silver necklace, pearls (lots of big ones, not a discreet little string) metallic silver or metallic coloured scarf, earrings, anything to keep light reflecting on to your face. Black on its own can be very draining on your skin, but something light and bright, and BOLD will make a difference.

I think the advice above is excellent. However I have similar colouring to you, silver hair and grey eyes. My skin is very fair. I would look like a corpse in black, so wear a lot of gunmetal grey or navy with the scarves and jewellery suggested above. I also always wear silver never gold.
