If you can still get them, I rwecommend the Braun Epilator. Had it for years, use it about once a fortnight and it;'s brilliant. Used to use Nair but it doesn't work on those pesky coarse white hairs.

nankate Eyelure do one 5.99 from Boots Superdrug etc . It is easy to use but you need a magnifying mirror . Not sure what it costs in a salon because I do my eyebrows and eyelashes my self . It makes an enormous difference .

You hair sounds very on trend. The friend I was referring to had long hair, all the same length. She went for a trim but must have had her head leaning to one side and the hairdresser didn't notice. It was not a style, just a dreadful cut. I didn't mean to offend anyone who has had their hair styled.

Poly I have an A symetric hair cut with a diagonal fringe. My Hairdresser has been working on it for months, now that the long side is quite a bit longer it is more obvious. I don't think it's dreadful I love it, and have had nice comments about it. If I feel like a change I just tuck the long bit behind my ear. I like something a little different

I have just come back from a holiday where there was poor light in the bathroom and, in spite of a magnifying mirror I missed one chin hair! At home, I tweeze them or use a little electronic tweezer gadget. (Takes age, but they are permanently gone) and I bleach my moustache every few weeks. Seems to keep things under control!

Having luxuriant dark hair on my head, which I love. I am less enamoured of the luxuriant growth on my face. Anyone getting to 70 without any facial hair strikes me as a miracle. I started electrolysis at 40 and 30+ years on I still have it regularly. Originally every week, I am now down to every 2 or 3 months.

Those of you who can manage with tweezing, creaming, threading or epilators, count your blessing.

I always have tweezers in my handbag as when im in the passenger seat of the car (husand driving) I often spot bristles on my chin in the miror in bright light which I couldnt see in the bathroom!

I go to my local beauty place once a month on a special deal they do for me and wax away anything on my face that shouldn.t be there, they also do my eyebrows as well. My monthly treat and I feel winderful afterwards.

One day I was wearing my reading glasses when I looked in the mirror and found I had a long nasal hair - couldn't see it without my specs! Shock horror. I try to trim nasal hairs with curled nail scissors. Hairs grow from a couple of facial moles which I trim off together with a few odd ones under my chin. There used to be small patch of fair hairs on my next just above my adam's apple. I used to have longish fair hairs on my nipples but they disappeared with breast feeding and didn't come back. Underarm hair hardly grows now.

I have a young German friend and she, her husband and 20-year old daughter regularly have all extraneous hair waxed. They see it as part of normal grooming. Playing bridge I have sometimes noticed the moustaches of my (female) friends as the light catches them. I have now had my face threaded and I feel so much happier. Even though it had what looks like down on it, plus the occasional proper whisker, I still feel more feminine without it. My husband hasn't noticed and I am not about to tell him! There are still things I prefer to keep to myself!

Oh, Esspee, other people do notice! I squirmed with embarrassment when a rather glam boss of mine sat next to me, because she had a very long, dark hair dangling from a mole high up on her cheek which grew a little longer every day (she was blonde!). I was young then and didn't want to be the one to tell her, but was so relieved when it was gone one day - it had nearly reached her chin by then She had two teenage daughters - how did they miss it?!

I've now got a very well-used set of tweezers and the pink spring thing from Amazon (Epistick, well worth £1.05 of anyone's money).

I have noticed that the couple of white hairs that sprout on my chin are much thicker and wirier than the dark ones. I'm hoping this bodes well for when my baby-fine hair goes grey or white.

I noticed one of you had her eyelashes dyed. I rather fancy this. Any advice on home kits or going to a salon ?

These whiskers appear overnight! Nobody else notices them but when YOU do it causes such consternation.
For those of you who worry, electrolysis is the way to go. Just keep shaving off the little blighters then book a session a fortnight away and stop shaving, giving them time to show themselves.
Plucking, waxing, threading etc. will have to be done repeatedly.

minxie Strangely, I used to get nipple hairs when I was much younger, and they would grow quite long. I used to cut them off, didn't fancy plucking!
I've not had them for years though, just on the chin ?

Oh dear, can sympathise here. A good light, reading glasses and magnifying mirror are essential for tweezing. DD bought me something from Amazon that she had been using - basically like a bendy spring which you roll over the hairs and it pulls them out. A bit painful but effective. However she also uses it on her top lip, I tried it once but never ever again ? Yet my eyebrows which I plucked into oblivion in the 60's never need tidying up.

Why is it you think you have tweeted all the wee hairs then you find one big horrible long one 2 days later !!

I am 39 and battle the chin sprigs I call them hormonal hairs as they start fair so you don't see them then go black over night!

My friend, who is 80, hardly has any body hair at all. Its so annoying I am blonde but get black hairs on my chin and the odd one on my neck. I go for electrolysis every two weeks, if I leave it longer I have to pluck them and have been told not to do this as you get ingrowing hairs. When I go on holiday I take wax strips. I was looking at the epilators but do not fancy shaving. I had a wizz it no idea where it is now.

Just to make you smile, my mother was told by my youngest son she wasn't a proper Granny because she didn't have any whiskers!

This is very common. I have one sprout hair on my chin it is blonde so not so noticeable.Reading this thread I have just pulled it out,knowing it will soon be back. Time to worry is when we start to sprout a beard.

Hi ladies ,. Life is so strangely annoying!! Well into the seven tens ...And yes also around mouth,. My eyebrows are developing almost black long hairs , which I pluck out ! But I have always been blonde so how come these are black?
Also I brought one of those wizzit s maybe two years ago ...But only use it once in two to three months ,. But it's not working so well now? Any advice on this ? have replaced batteries!

Fingertips are working over my chin and neck as I am reading all the posts which are making me search for the little beasties ! Use Nair facial cream every couple of weeks for top lip and chin area but the pesky witch whiskers appear in solo defiance between treatments. Could not be without my tweezers as they are useful if the Nair cream has not dealt sternly enough with the odd bristle.
Lupatria, tend to do as you if I am in a hurry - reach for a disposable razor and cream after a few days.
