I am starting to look for some Spring jeans mainly for a holiday I am taking in May and would like to ask help with the following questions.
1. Has anyone seen such itmes in any shops or on-line?
2. Can a 64 year old size 14 5ft 3 in woman wear these and hope to get away with it if the top comes over the derriere?

thank you

I've ordered some white jeans from Per Una (M & S) will try them on at home and be brutally honest with myself. We are going on a cruise in America and Canada so I want to look a little bit swish - will buy some nice tops when in JL on Sunday.

Wear whatever you feel good in, dont worry about age or size,I think white is smart, especially in the evenings with a smart top covering you posterior, now off you go and shop!

Good for you! I think anyone can wear white jeans/trousers as long as they fit well and the tops you wear with them are long enough. I've got several pairs in various fittings. I quite fancy a pair of pale pink ones but have never bought any as I'm not sure I'd wear those - I've got some purple jeans and only wear those at home.

Apologies to all those in pale pink jeans, but when I see them, at a distance, for the first few seconds I do wonder, are they wearing anything? This has got better since I had my cataracts done. grin

I always think white jeans or white linen trousers look lovely with a bright top on someone else - but I don't buy them because I would wear them for about 15 minutes then spill something down them.

Cover your derrière in beige or flesh-toned knickers
pen I am amazed at the number of women who don't seem to realise that white shines through and that flesh-toned bra and knickers are essential under light clothes!

I think White jeans look lovely with a top that covers the bottom!Summery too!
I've got biggish boobs but my bottom half is quite slim so white jeans with a darker top is quite flattering.

Oh how i would love to wear three quarter length trousers or jeans i think they look so summery with a pretty top and flats, but i have horrendous veins on both my lower legs around the ankle area so they would be exposed and i feel so self consious of them!!!sad

travel I have come to the conclusion that at our age 71 in my case I have become invisible so I can wear what I like.

Jane are the Monsoon trousers linen or linen-mix? (loved the wife typo) grin

I've never bought linen trousers as assumed they would just be a wrinkly mess in no time. I do have some lovely Monsoon linen shirts which still look as new even though they're about three years old.

Can't remember river & not at home just now so can't check but I think they were all linen, but they didn't seem to crease like linen stuff I've had in the past. smile
I bought them online & was lucky they were a really good fit.

I'm 64 and wear white cropped linen trousers on holiday, looking for a pale pink or turquoise pair for this year. I also have a cerise Pink pair of cropped jeans that I got last year in White Stuff, and wore them all the time, plus a " cobalt blue" pair from M & S and I found lots of tops to wear with them. I always go a little more daring when on holiday as no one knows me anyway LOL

clementine Fri 10-Mar-17 13:33:52

Me too Travelsofar but I don't care when on holiday as there is a lot worse on show !!

I turned 70 this year and, while I don't have white jeans, I do love my white linen trousers. Wear what makes you happy!

Glamdram Fri 10-Mar-17 18:00:09

If you are only 5 3. Wide leg trews will make you look shorter. Unless you take them up just above your ankle .

A 64year old person can wear whatever they like !!! Size 14. Is a good size for jeans and anything else. In my opinion anyway

I'd stay away from wide leg trousers too, on the whole, but I think wide legs plus tight top plus heels/wedges may work.

I see you have ordered Per Una which is the brand I would have recommended anyway. I'm 67 and a size 14 now but as a young woman wearing jeans (size 12 5" 7") I always looked as though I was going to do a job of work. However I discovered Per Una straight leg jeans in the local Oxfam shop which has an arrangement to receive surplus sale stock from M & S so they were new too. I was looking after my little granddaughter at least 3 days a week so I bought my first pair for playing with her. I have several pairs now and absolutely love them. In fact I wear them practically all the time; social occasions included.

I have just come back from a last minute break in Marbella at the weekend. I noticed lots of older elegant ladies wearing narrow, straight legged jeans and trousers in pale shades. I have to say, they looked fabulous. No wide legs at all. Some wore also slim cropped chinos in pale biscuit shades with flat shoes or fancy trainers: they are now top of my shopping list for summer.

I think it depends on your shape, rather than your dress size. I look dreadful in white jeans or trousers. I'm a smaller size 12 and average height, so they should look okay, but just don't. Ditto cropped pants. I think it's because I'm blessed with child-bearing hips grin. I've bought them in the past because they look so elegant on other women and I try to kid myself they'll be fine with the right top. Which is why I put three pairs of unworn white pants in the charity bag this Summer.

But there are no rules! A 64 year old size 14 5ft 3 in woman can wear what the heck she likes smile.

Penelopebee, I love my jeggings too! Especially in bright colours.

rosesarered Wed 15-Mar-17 09:33:31

Maggie I am older/larger/shorter than that grin but I wear anything that I like more or less.

Maggiemaybe Wed 15-Mar-17 09:42:22

And so you should, roses! grin

Iam64 Wed 15-Mar-17 20:53:00
