I am starting to look for some Spring jeans mainly for a holiday I am taking in May and would like to ask help with the following questions.
1. Has anyone seen such itmes in any shops or on-line?
2. Can a 64 year old size 14 5ft 3 in woman wear these and hope to get away with it if the top comes over the derriere?

thank you

White jeans as long as they are good quality and good fit can look smashing on anyone whatever your age! Go for it ?

I am 66 size 12 and bought some white Tu (Sainsburys)Jeans last summer
My brutal daughters say they look fine
I have some burnt orange and turquoise cut offs from M and S which are almost poplin. They will be coming on holiday with me and will buy some more this summer if they do them in different colours .Side zip and very flattering .Pale pink would be good
It's more down to body shape and personality than age /size I think

I buy Sainsburys straight leg jeans, they are £14 a pair and are available in black, mid denim blue and dark denim. They are a lovely stretchy material and so comfortable to wear. The black ones , when worn with a longish top, look like trousers not jeans, and I wear them all the time ( I have 3 pairs of black and 2 pairs of mid denim) I am in my 70's and 5'4 and the short fit me perfectly....they are available in short, med and long

I've had a pair of white jeans for years and by the time the weather is right for wearing white it becomes too hot to wear jeans. They are going to last me several more years at this rate. I think you should wear what you feel comfy in. There is so much choice out there nowadays.

I have only to stand still in pale coloured jeans and dirt jumps up and hits me! I don't like to have to worry about getting dirty so usually wear dark or bright colours. I have a pair of white NYDJs in a drawer but have never worn them.

teetime if you're going somewhere hot I would stuck with the wife leg linen trousers from Monsoon.
I got some last year & love them.

janeainsworth Thu 09-Mar-17 10:08:39

Stick with the wide leg !!!

I volunteer in a Charity shop & we get really dirty sometimes. Especially me as i process the donated books & when they come in from the Bookbank can be very dirty so i tend to wear jeans & a dark t shirt that can just be put in the washing machine.
The point is whatever you feel comfortable in for whatever you are doing is totally down to you. Go with what you feel.

Of course you can but stick to straight leg style. Not bootleg. Ankle length cropped is good for the summer.

I bought white cropped trousers for the first time a few years ago and love them! Good on a petite figure, with coloured vests and t shirts, then with black, which I saw in France, as has been said, very smart.I then realised I would never have worn these when younger, and was still menstruating!!

mags1234 Thu 09-Mar-17 10:49:31

Of course you can! Wear, and enjoy! Today I've got on bright damson coloured skinny jeans, age 67,

I am 5'6" size 22, I love white jeans, jeggings, cropped jeans & trousers, also knee length smart shorts for summer. Long tops are essential though. I did have a pair of pink jeans but rarely wore them. Wear what you like as long as you're comfortable.

Karanlouise Thu 09-Mar-17 11:23:42

Good for you rosmaybud I'm a generous size 18 after years of being a size 28 and have always worn what I like and feel comfortable in. That includes a swimming costume on the beach. smile

Sheilasue Thu 09-Mar-17 11:31:02

Yeah go for it I am 72 this year and still wear them, I just bought some from m&s

Dharmacat Thu 09-Mar-17 12:36:43

Yes - go for whatever you feel comfortable / good in, white/ pastels at any age . However, after a certain age I think a longer t-shirt /top is more flattering - unless you are one of the lucky ones whose derriere has not wandered south.
Just a caution re: pure linen trousers of any colour; they are high maintenance and , like all linen garments, really need washing/pressing after each wearing to look smart. Having said that, black ones tend to show the creases less obviously Not a problem if you have access to washing and ironing facilities on holiday and do not mind doing some laundry.
I always travel in darker trousers/ skirts and wear lighter colours after arrival as, inevitably, light colours are magnets for coffee, wine or food drips .
Enjoy your shopping and have a lovely holiday!

Of course you can, what has age got to do with it? Trinny and Susannah used to do a series called "Dress for your size not your age" and it has always stayed with me.
Have you looked at young people on the High Street these days? Size 14 is slim, and 5'3" is nicely petite. Go for it, if you can't wear them, who can?

Ulli58 Thu 09-Mar-17 13:16:23

I think it's not the colour you're wearing but the whole outfit that matters. Any kind of colour jeans can look good or not so good depending on the top and footwear you combine them with. It may help to wear a longer top over jeans if you are not sure about your "middle" (check in the mirror if in doubt). Also check which shoes/ankle boots/sandals look good with your chosen outfit. I buy most of my clothes from Boden who have an excellent range and customer service and it is no problem to return items.

The main thing is to make sure you're not wearing the wrong underwear beneath pale coloured jeans - I can always remember walking behind a couple of women in smart white trousers who were also displaying to the world that they were wearing smart white thongs underneath. Not a good look. Cover your derrière in beige or flesh-toned knickers.

I'm 70 and wear white jeans and when it's warmer, white linen trousers or crops. The look great with many colours, my preference is usually blue or navy. The only jeans I wouldn't wear are ripped ones. I just don't see the point!

Caro1954 Thu 09-Mar-17 13:37:30

Wear whatever you like - if you feel comfortable and smart you'll be confident enough to wear anything! Go for it!

Jeanie6 Thu 09-Mar-17 13:50:36

You are slim and could certainly wear pale coloured jeans with long t shirt, it's when you get to be a size 18 or like myself a size 20 that you should give them a miss.

Rosiebee Thu 09-Mar-17 14:45:47

I live in my white cotton crops on holiday. Not leggings, far too lumpy for those, but a loose fit and a longish top and I'm off to enjoy my hols. Tend to wear neutral or dark coloured crops at home in Summer, probably as I'm messier at home.
I think it is great that we can wear what we like without thinking of age. I'm 65 and when my dear Mum was that age she was 'old' in her attitudes, appearance and dress. I'm no skinny minny but I live in my jeans and boots in the winter and loose cotton t shirt and shirts with crops in the summer.
If you are comfortable and don't scare the horses wear what YOU like and get on with enjoying YOUR life. sunshine

amt101 Thu 09-Mar-17 15:37:19

Marisota do great jeans and proper waisted ones too

Penelopebee Thu 09-Mar-17 16:15:37

I'm a funny shape, DH describes as a toffee Apple so slim legs look ok in light colours with a darker long top. Getting them to fit is my problem! I'm I'm unlucky all I can find is one's that look like I'm wearing a baby nappy or just empty cloth gap about where my bum should be. So no one seems to have mentioned JEGGINS. Very stretchy jeans but fit like leggings. My saviour of elastic waisted heaven. But if it's hot linen much better for coolness. My theory also is tight bottoms= baggy top. Loose bottoms= close fitting top .

Liaise Thu 09-Mar-17 16:19:01

You could try cream or light grey. A bit more subtle and very useful. Goes with most things.
