Coconut oil

I bought a £1 tub from Savers a little while ago to try it. I use it for my hands and cuticles and now recommend it to the ladies attending the LGFB workshops - LGFB, Look Good Feel Better is the charity which helps ladies and teenagers deal with the visible side effects of cancer treatment. I found that coconut oil is one of the best (and cheapest) for skin care, especially for hands, cuticles, elbows, knees and feet as starlily said. Brilliant stuff!

My granddaughter and I use it every day. Hair, hands, feet, face, face, neck, never tried it for cooking, ( I use fry lite coconut oil for that).

I got mine from Aldi too, it's a huge jar for only £2.99. I've not used it in cooking, only as a moisturiser see other thread re very dry skin! It's very good on heels, elbows and knees. The smells doesn't bother me at all because it soon wears off.

disgruntled that's interesting.

As with many products there are a lot of different qualities. I buy large quantities from Costco and use it for all cooking - it does not flavour the food. I use Virgin u refined oil. You can use it for many things - that and Aloe Vera cover most things!

Yes! I use it all the time - as a cleanser, a moisturiser, body lotion AND for oil pulling, which is an ancient Ayurvedic technique for keeping teeth and gums healthy. You take a teaspoonful and swish it round your mouth until it changes consistency: it gathers up all the bacteria - then spit it down the loo and brush your teeth as usual. My dentist keeps asking me what I'm doing cos my gums are so healthy these days. If I get toothache I just do it for longer.

Thanks mini! I'm off to check out Amazon offers.

Yep, use it all the time GK! Organic, unrefined pot sits on my worktop for cooking coconut rice. It's quite a strong flavour, so you need to be careful how you use it .Pot upstairs for skin care etc. Melted with beeswax it makes a lovely hand cream. It's relatively cheap - always an offer on somewhere!

Hate the smell. Have to back off from anyone who uses it!

Do you use it or have you tried it? I'm reading India Knight "In Your Prime" (won it from GN) and she waxes lyrical about it for everything from skin cream to hair conditioner to cooking (wasn't sure at first whether to post this "Health").
