Ralph Lauren should be lynched ....

..... for foisting those hideous outfits on the Wimbledon line judges/referees. Whoever in their right mind thought that a long-sleeved formal blue shirt tucked into cream trousers with a belt at the waist could possisbly look good on anyone - male or female - but the youngest & slimmest!!! Add the incredibly old-fashioned skirt, the wrong-looking cap, the dreadful hot-looking lace-up shoes and you have hideousness personified.

I was at a talk once by one of said line judges and she was vociferous in her condemnation of the outfit, which apparently is made of quite nasty material too. Something cool, short-sleeved (a jacket to be added if required) and loose-fitting is what's needed. Or does anyone out there actually like this uniform?

Lynching's a bit harsh...hmm

Perhaps whoever designed them should be made to stand in the heat of a 5 or 6 hour match, intently watching the lines ready for a call.
They may have a re-think then.

OK lynching OTT, but Jalima that's a great idea! Perhaps that should happen with all uniforms, particularly those designed for women by men.

I hadn't noticed but then I don't watch much sport on TV. I do remember the hideous Stella McCartney outfits for London 2012.

I always think how nice they look, but haven't actually had the TV on this week.
Are they still wearing those cream flat caps? Loved those.
But honestly compared to the sheer scruffiness of the line judges, ball boys/girls and umpire at Roland Garros, I think Wimbledon looks traditional, stylish, and well, very English!
Pimms anyone?

Very English? What is very Scots, Welsh Irish? Clogs abd kilts ?

MawBroon Fri 07-Jul-17 09:51:23

Definitely kilts as in Highland games anniebach!! I said English because it reminded me of cricket whites (sadly a memory in most places) and because I think it makes no concessions to what is perceived as trendy or "street fashion"
Remember I am Scottish.

High black hats, shawls and white lace for the Welsh.

Not sure about the men?

MawBroon shock
May I remind you that the official title of the Cricket Bods is the English and Wales Cricket Board wink
