But why not jeans?

I'm so fed up with ending up with the wrong ones, even after trying on.

My most recent pair were from my local M&S outlet, Atlantic Village, Bideford.

Tried a few pairs on, bought the straight leg "Sculpt and Lift" or some such nonsense, take more than a bit of denim and some sort of stretchy lycra type stuff to lift and sculpt my bottom, but they didn't offer a JCB option.

So, about 4 wears and washes in, they are just not right! The waist is not quite in the right place, therefore I seem to be often hitching them up.

Looking through my wardrobe, there are jeans that will never encase my buttocks again, size 8 shock 10, 12, (sob) and 14.

I know that I have put on weight since giving up smoking, but really..............sad

I have found them! I too lost faith in the Michelangelesque qualities of "those" jeans BUT some Per Una straight jeans with the tiniest bit of "bling" on the back pockets (£39.50) fit beautifully, are soft and comfy and (so far) have not gone baggy. The trouble is, they are not denim coloured, I bought white and then dark blue, but I think they are selling out on line.
Like you I have pairs of jeans in every size and shape , never 8, but GAP 10 through to 16 all, pending a rediscovery of the inner me under my bum and tum.

I have jeans in various shapes, slimfit, skinny shock straight leg. etc. The skinny versions (makes that I've tried so far, anyway: Tu, M&S, George, F&F) try to dislodge my kneecaps if I want to bend my legs; or else they gradually work their way down to feeling insecure so I have to keep hoisting them up. The pair I wear most are black, George and slightly stretchy. They fit best after a wash but never threaten the kneecaps or start to come down.

You're up late [*Phoenix*] or early [*MB*]! Is it the weather?

Oops, wrong sort of brackets....

suzied Fri 07-Jul-17 06:20:04

You can get jeans fitting service in London, I think it might be in Selfridges, but I suspect the jeans will be super expensive. I always like Uniqglo high waisted straight jeans the best good fitting and no slippage.

suzied Fri 07-Jul-17 06:26:02

Yes you can get fitted in Selfridges
www.selfridges.com/GB/en/content/article/denim-studio
And Levis store in Regent Street
www.levi.com/GB/en_GB/regent-street
Maybe an idea for a birthday present....

suzied Fri 07-Jul-17 07:18:35

They claim to start from £11 though!

I agree about the Per Una jeans and several colours including a white pair that I haven't dared wear yet! I was fitted for Jeans in GAP but our local one has disappeared - has GAP gone everywhere?

Nannylovesshopping Fri 07-Jul-17 09:28:18

Colchester Gap gone, I loved their jeans

Jalima1108 Fri 07-Jul-17 10:20:43

I have a pair of size 14 jeans in the wardrobe, Per Una, worn once but [sob] I can't do them up - at the moment.
envy

I have to wear a belt with jeans, whatever make, because what fits my waist won't do up over my tum and what zips up is too big in the waist and they walk down (embarrassingly)

The best and most comfortable jeans I have ever bought I got from QVC shock. I don't do a lot of telly shopping because I like to try things on before I buy, but I couldn't resist these. "My Wonder Denim" in size 14. They fit perfectly, and wash well. They have kept their length and shape. They are my favourite leg wear.

NonnaW Fri 07-Jul-17 17:19:31

The last couple of pairs I bought were from Tesco (F&F), cheap and cheerful and fit me well. I usually have problems with the waistband gaping at the back but not with these. I got a pair of cropped and some slim leg. Bought online using my club card vouchers.

rosesarered Fri 07-Jul-17 18:51:24

I agree Phoenix ( and I was where you mention in your post this week ) smile
Mine were bought in another M&S however, but have gone exactly the same way,
They drop and need hitching up all the time.I have bought a leather belt, and this seems to help a lot.So does constant washing.

Thank you all for the replies, appreciated as always, although I think a trip from Devon to London for a pair of jeans may be a tad excessive!

roses you were in Atlantic Village, where do you live?

rosesarered Fri 07-Jul-17 20:55:48

I was on my hols! Staying locally with friends ( we used to live there) so a treat to revisit all the places we used to go, Appledore, Bideford, Torrington, and Hartland Quay.So much now at Atlantic Village! Much more than when we lived locally.
I even popped into Morrisons.grin

phoenix Fri 07-Jul-17 22:13:39

Why didn't you say! We could have met up, had a coffee, so that you could tell people I'm actually real!

phoenix Fri 07-Jul-17 22:16:28

Of course, it may have been that you would rather not meet, and I could remain a figment of your imagination, or the stuff nightmares are made of..............

SueDonim Fri 07-Jul-17 23:58:27

Normally they would be too expensive for me, at £60 a pair, but I had some money off and a discount code for Landsend jeans and, oh my, they're lovely!

They don't have much choice at the moment but they're called Xtralife and they come in various styles (the straight leg ones are nice and neat) and colours. They also come in various leg lengths.

For those who find jeans slipping... put a belt on. Most of my jeans and shorts need to be belted. I think it looks a more 'finished' style too.

I like Hobbs jeans. They're not as cheap as some but I find they they fit well. I've also had some success with Asda jeans - I do find that the styles vary and some aren't nice at all. I bought some cropped denim ones last year which fit really well and the denim is a nice weight and colour.

Jalima1108 Sat 08-Jul-17 10:51:22

M&S do a nice leather belt which is found near the jeans instore.
