Shoes and sandalls

No! I'm with you all the way mrsmopp! I bought a pair of mules yesterday in Clarke's sale. Walked up and down for ages in the shop, felt fine, wore them for a couple of hours around the house and they killed me! I tend to end up in Sketchers which are sooo comfortable, but not suitable for work or wearing with dresses.

I wear Sketchers leather shoes - they are doing them in black and cream this summer. They are the only shoes I own. I usually wear them all the time but this summer I bought a pair of Skechers 'Easy going repute mule' and I just live in them. They are the most comfortable shoe ever. I have them in white and black . Trouble is I'm not sure I will ever get my feet back into shoes,

I wear - amongst others similar - Gabor. They do wide fitting and are supremely comfortable.

For walks I wear Sketchers Memory Foam which are supremely comfortable but a little inelegant for going out to lunch, etc.

I have these Gabor shoes which look better than the picture, very comfortable and look good - they have an in-built wedge.

I buy Penelope Chilvers sandals because they have crepe soles and are all leather. They are expensive but I usually wait for the sale. I have a pair of her long tassel boots for walking the dog in winter and wear trainers (usually Reebok) in the summer. I also like Clarks wave walk sandals for walking dog in summer. I have size 3 narrow feet by the way.

I have some Van Dal shoes - they do some good styles in wide fittings.

I love Rieker shoes and sandals - never rub - and they're easy to have one shoe raised because of the thicker sole.

Rieker, Hotter and Clarks, all seem good to me.

I want some wide fit summery mary jane style, for walking on beach etc. I am miles from good shops. Ordered some padders but too tight/small, so back they go. I have high instep, and need a deep footbed. It's a nightmare trying to find some. I wish I could go to just one shop that had loads of choice for me.

Rieker for me and for winter boots as well. They actually fit my feet properly!

Have you tried Clarks Seacliff? They do some of their styles in a wide fit and you can order online.

I've ordered a couple of pairs from Van Daal on line recently, they've had some good reductions in their sale, one pair in particular, some backless loafers have proved to be good for walking in, although they don't offer as much support as trainers, I think they look better. I also like Fitflops for the summer. It is of course harder to find style in flats, although I agree with the OP it's crucial that footwear is comfortable. I love ankle boots for the winter, many look good without a heel.

I just buy whatever shoes appeal to me and are comfortable, regardless of make. I have quite wide feet, but have never found comfortable shoes difficult to find.

Mind you, I never have worn uncomfortable shoes - or clothes. I have never been prepared to suffer to look good at any age, so I do not have any trouble with foot problems.

My favourite sandals are Fitflops and I love Camper shoes and boots.

Memory foam insoles make a difference! Must get some more - it's like walking on air. I got some Skechers Mary Janes in black with the white soles. They are blissfully comfortable.

I wear Skechers with custom-made orthotics (for my fallen arches) and in Summer live in Vionics sandals which have got inbuilt support. They aren`t cheap but I usually pick something up on sale at the end of the season

I can second the vote for Vionics. If you have fallen arches they offer really comfortable support. I tend to buy them through a website called Simpy Feet which seems to specialise in good looking shoes designed for comfort.

I've never before heard of Vionics. They are gorgeous !!!

Thanks Oriel, yes I have a lot of Unstructured shoes from Clark's, can't find anything to fit me well now. I want a closed in summer shoe to walk on pebble beach, i like Mary Jane style as have high arches, and they stay on. I want to wear them without socks, many seem to rub. I do have wide feet. I am just going to have to trudge round all the shops in Norwich!, a 2 hour round trip. I will try hotters and ecco, it is always soooo difficult for me to find a comfortable shoe. I really envy you who don't have this problem.

I live in my Skechers and have Skechers boots for winter too. Down side is that I recently went to a wedding wearing low heeled court shoes. Van Daal I think. I only lasted till after the ceremony. I could hardly walk. Changed into Skecher sandals with a metallic glitter and enjoyed the rest of the day. You'll be amused to know that about 90 % of the female guests also changed into flatties after the ceremony.

I buy most of my shoes from Pavers, particularly like Flyflot. Having said that, the most comfortable boots I've had for years are a pair if slouch boots that cost me £9.99 in Shoezone and I've worn them every winter for the last 3 years.
