Perfume - what are your favourites?

I love perfume and wear it every day. I've noticed recently though that some perfumes I have worn for years suddenly don't seem to have the same staying power. For instance my most recent purchase, Chanel Allure Sensuelle, is undetectable on me after an hour or so - it was EDP by the way. Its either my skin changing or the formulation as I've bought it in the past and don't remember having the same problem.

Does anyone have fragrance they can recommend? I'm looking for a summery one at the moment but would be interested in hearing suggestions generally.

i love opium and thankfully my son keep me well supplied at christmas.
i have other favourites and, once, when i had the money i bought a bottle of each. unfortunately since then i've used them all up apart from one little squirt.
i'd love to get chanel no 5 again but it's way beyond my purse these days [plus some of the others - obsession, organza and rive gauche among them].
day to day perfumes which i like are the marks and spencer florentyna range - lovely flowery scents which smell expensive. they do one which is just called florentyne and the other is florentyna midnight flowers. not too pricey but last for a long time.

Ohh, I'm bookmarking this thread! I adore perfume, and I've been looking for something new. I have used Chanel No.5 for years, but I no longer smell it on me, and my mother keeps saying it's too heavy for daytime. I like Angel, Opium, Manifesto and a Prada one I can't remember the name of. Keep the suggestions coming, ladies - I'm making a note!

And sometimes in Summer I use L'Air d'Issey, but I know a friend of mine loathes it, so I know it's risky. Maybe all perfume is.

Very old -fashioned -launched in 1947, apparently - but I love Ma Griffe by Carven.

There was a long time when I could not get it in the UK but, easier now.

Sheilasue Wed 23-Aug-17 11:33:55

I love Paul Smiths Rose, I also like ck summer.

I too love the original Miss Dior for summer and day time; and if you're throwing out any unwanted Mitsouko, Phoenix I'll stand under your window - that's my favourite evening scent. I know I'm going out when I put that on.

D&G L'imperatrice ... I adore it !

Oh BBbevan, Acqua Manda! Takes me back to 6th form days in the mid 70s, how I loved the perfume & the bath essence! They also did Acqua Citrus, if you remember, which I liked too. I can see the packaging - doubt it would still appeal these days but who knows? Haven't seen it
online, must have a look

Many of you will know this but for those who don't Jo Malone is simply a brand nowadays but the good lady has relaunched herself as 'Jo loves' and has a lovely little shop in Elizabeth Street, London. My favourite is currently Pomelo. Use it exclusively. Mmmmmm........

GrammaH Wed 23-Aug-17 11:20:37

Jo Malone Lime Basil & Mandarin for daytime and Estèe Lauder Modern Muse for evening

My favourite was Worth Je Reviens. Could someone recommend a nice woody spicy perfume please? Full of Eastern promise? Well I do originate from the east... Edinburgh grin

Sundancer123 Wed 23-Aug-17 11:07:07

Gucci Rush, gorgeous.

Susie65 Wed 23-Aug-17 11:04:46

No other than Beautiful by Esther Lauder for me. I've been wearing it daily for ever & still love it & receive compliments on it. It's great summer & winter.

I used to use a perfume called SINAN, but it seems to have been unavailable for years sadly. Anyone know anything about it? Now I wear Chanel Mademoiselle, but not the perfume, just the body lotion which is more subtle.

ExaltedWombat Wed 23-Aug-17 11:01:54

Don't forget, if YOU can detect a perfume after the initial impact, it's probably overpowering for those around you. Less is more!

missdeke Wed 23-Aug-17 11:00:21

The only one I seem to be able to wear is Coolwater Woman, I smell lovely perfumes on other women yet when I try them they smell like camel's wee on me!!

sussexoldbag Wed 23-Aug-17 10:59:00

My favourite is Miss Dior - original, not the newer floral one. It has plenty of staying power and I wear it every day.

Telly Wed 23-Aug-17 10:57:55

Hermes - at the moment it is Un Jardin Sur Le Nil. I also like Miller Harris, I bought a sample set online, it was lovely like a little box of chocolates, but without the calories. It was good as you get to try out half a dozen but without the commitment of a bottle. But I guess a dear way per spray.

sue01 Wed 23-Aug-17 10:47:09

Chanel No. 5. Body Lotion. Expensive... but a small amount lasts all day... and it is never, ever overpowering.

blueberry1 Wed 23-Aug-17 10:46:28

007 is lovely and lasts well.My favourite is Lady Million by Paco Rabanne, always get compliments when wearing it.

Hildagard Wed 23-Aug-17 10:43:24

Does no one still like YSL Rive Gauche still my favourite. Though for summer just a body shop jasmine spray reminds me of when we went to India

Lclaytonuk555 Wed 23-Aug-17 10:41:55

I love perfume and keep going back to Calvin Klein's Eternity though have recently re-discovered Missey Eau d'Issey.

I couldn't agree more and I think that the Classic scents which have long lasting, powdery base notes are more suited to mature skin. Some of the new ones smell cheap and pungent to me.
I love Chanel No. 5, Coco Chanel, L'Instant by Guerlain and Tresor by Lancome. I used to adore Accenti by Gucci, but they stopped making it in favour of new sharper fragrances. I really miss it.
A parfumier once told me to always put a little perfume
on the hairline where it will last longer and to layer the scent by using matching body lotion. It sounds expensive, but I find it all lasts for much longer. I save up my Boots advantage card points to treat myself once or twice a year,
and drop heavy hints for Christmas and birthdays. That way I always have something to wear which really lifts my spirits.
