Trouser trouble!

Edinburgh Woollen Mill has quite a few colours, I've only ever bought jumpers, blouses and jackets in there so can't say what their trousers are like.

I ve never worn trousers only jeans or jeggins

Some of their jeans are more like trousers if you know what I mean. I usually order a size smaller than normal though as their sizing is generous.

I would like a chocolate brown pair.
31" leg with front or side zip and not elasticated.
Tried last year - no luck,
Will try again this year but don't hold out much hope

I never find well fitting trousers I wear jeans or jeggings in a range of colours.

MOnica, I used to buy from Lands End but their brown has gone from a nice chocolate brown to a 'baby's nappy' brown! I'd love to find some smart trousers though. I'm happy with jeans and wear Lands End and NYDJ but only have one pair of tidy trousers!

I have always found Lands' End trousers colour fast, but products do vary.

Have a look at the range at Artigano. A bit more expensive but lovely quality and a range of colours.

Lands End do some trouser jeans. I bought a pair which were a fabulous fit so I ordered exactly the same but in paler denim. I couldn't get them past my thighs. The lack of consistency drives me bonkers. I sent them back with a letter of complaint - got the refund but no reply.

I can't find good grey trousers.

Ironically Nanabilly we lived inHong Kong for a long time where tailormade was much cheaper - there is a good tailor near me but they're always so busy! Perhaps I should do a sewing course and have a go myself!

I recently discovered Boden trousers. A bit pricey but oh, so comfortable - and washable. There are plains and patterns. They don't cut into my tummy which other trousers often do. I like Lands End too and also Cotton Traders but Boden are my current favourites for smart trousers.

Why are straight leg really slim fit? I have chubby knees but dislike the wide fit with flappy ankles. Boden used to be fine for me but although they fit well on the waist and hips are now too tight around the knees. And I need new jeans........

M&Co might be worth a try if you have one nearby (they only have shops in small towns).
