Autumn shoes!

On the point of consigning some fairly new shoes to the charity bag as I had clearly bought them a size too small and tight, I was wondering how I could have got it so wrong more than once.
Have my feet grown confused ?
Then I realised that a summer of trainers, sandals, espadrilles and lightweight canvas deck shoes had simply made me unused to closer fitting autumn or winter shoes!
So I persevered with the first pair I had been about to chuck, a pair of Hotter brogue/ loafers and 12 hours later, they feel fine!
So sorry, charity shop, these shoes live to fight another day.
Anybody else ever had this experience?

Yes. Even ancient shoes and boots that are well worn in are uncomfortable when first put on after sandals all summer.
You are not alone.

Yes and I think Autumn trousers feel uncomfortable on the legs when I've been in loose linen ones all summer!
