The Wardrobe 2 year challenge.

Like Phoenix I am finding I need to wear different colours now that my hair is white! Wardrobe now half empty...

I have a teal coloured jacket that seemed like a good idea at the time. I wore it to a wedding with a dress that had the same colour in it, with which it looked fine, but whenever I have tried it on since, it has become a no no! I actually like it, but it kind of doesn’t like me, so after trying it on again yesterday, it’s future is now decided.

I have found that I have really had to re-think the colours I wear since giving up colouring my hair.

A new mustard seed (yellow) jumper looks good, but I would never have considered it with red hair.

So, I have been having a cull, especially getting rid of business suits that I no longer need (and can't fit into ) and hope to find forgotten treasures as I go through the cupboards and drawers!

The same as scribbles cleared the wardrobes this year and now have the one in, one out rule, and yes, it’s certainly keeping the spending down.
However Teetime I have found two things today since reading your thread that will be worn, and then given away or thrown out.A pale blue plain top ( makes me look more washed out than ever) and has lost it’s shape, and a jacket that looks unfashionable, is a strange shade of green, and I wonder why I ever bought it.They will be worn and their future decided!

That's it then. Black velvet skirt { at least 12 years old from M&S) wore it a Golf Club do on Saturday night.
Too long, too tight and going into charity bag.
I thought velvet was all the fashion this season - but not on me.

I almost threw out a mint green & cream striped polo shirt that was quite new but rarely worn because I decided the colours were wrong for me. I kept it and now wear it regularly because the colours have magically become "right"?!

I could only do this if my weight remained the same for more than a few weeks at a time . As it is, I have to have clothes in different sizes to allow for the constant fluctuation. I nearly threw out a tunic that I bought [and virtually lived in] from a charity shop a couple of years ago; tried it on and realised I still loved it!

I'm wearing a pale grey cotton jumper with a small embroidered all over pattern in pink and orange. It is a Mantaray one which I bought last year and took a dislike to as it is not a very flattering shape (or it may be me that is not a very flattering shape!). I rescued it from the charity bag last week and I'm glad I did as it seems much nicer this year.

Sounds like you're on top of this ladies- did you find anything that your are now wearing that you didn't before?

Ah Scribbles - a girl after my own heart. I love my clothes, always have but don't need so many in retirement. I think I will follow your new rule, something new and something has to go. Teetime, I am already sort of doing what you are advocating and looking for new ways to wear things I haven't worn in ages -some more than two years ago. Hoping these measures will stop me from buying unnecessarily. ?

I'd love to participate but I already did my own challenge last year when we moved house from 4 bedrooms to 2, three big wardrobes to two modest ones ...
I had no idea I could be so ruthless! Anything unworn for a year or more went out the door. Everything left is either relatively new or old, loved and worn often. I have a new rule, too - if something fresh comes in, then something has to go. As I love all my clothes so much, this is keeping my spending down to levels I can scarcely believe so it's Win-win .
