Does anyone still wear heels?

I've found three pairs of very dusty but beautiful high heel shoes in the back of my wardrobe. These days I either wear comfy trainers or biker boots. Even on an evening out I'll rather wear (warm) boots with a chunky very low heel. Will I ever wear these heels again? I'm not sure I want to resign myself to never wearing heels again. It feels like giving up on being young...

I have several pairs of very high heels which I wear when I can get out of the car and walk into a restaurant and back to the car and home at the end.

Yes, I still wear heels.

Well ... I took part in the Reclaim The Night march in my boyish walking shoes, then joined the party. The young people were disco dancing in boots or trainers, I danced in my heels.

I have a cupboard full of beautiful high heels. My husband loves me to wear them!! Sadly I fell( wearing flats!) and badly broke my wrist. Now I feel very scared of falling again so rarely wear any of my lovely shoes. I have found I wear completely different clothes now as so many of my dresses look really frumpy with flats. They really need heels( in my opinion) to look nice. However, I can't get rid of them. Maybe one day..........

Flatties not 'flat ties' for goodness sake!

I used to happily wear high heels but after totally dislocating my ankle and breaking it in 9 places, it's held together with pins and plates so no more. I've lost my balance too so flat ties or very low heels for me.

I live in my DM’s. Even for work.
I wear small heels for events like weddings and I still have a beautiful pair of black suede Chanel heels that I can bear for about 2 hours.
In the summer I wear wedges or a little platform, and on holiday I live in my Ecco sandals.

Grandma70s not 'smart' for me necessarily but certainly 'feel good' applies. Hope I wasn't ever brainwashed but, who knows........

Watching how young people walk on the incredible high thin heels ( way higher than our stilettos) now makes me realise how ugly it looks they walk with their knees bent quite strangely
No a small chunky heel is all I can manage as one toe joint can no longer be bent without excruciating pain I like to see ladies in one or two inch heels but those four five and beyond look very daft

What I’d like to know is how so many women have been brainwashed into thinking high heels are smart, when they quite obviously put feet in an unnatural position. Fashion is a strange thing.

Am in my 70s. Never liked shoes, and at home mostly wear none, though occasionally wooden Scholls (which I do like) or soft slippery type things if my feet are cold! When out, it depends what I am doing. Mostly wear flat slip-ons, wedges, or sandals in summer, but always court shoes with about a 2" heel if I want to be smarter. Have crocs for the garden and regular garden shoes. Also own trainers! Need short boots and probably walking boots. But oh how I hate shoes in general!!

Keep "rocking" those heels!
You go girl...

Cant wear heels since i had both knee replacements done, wear slip ons with a slight raised heel, but basically flat. Wish I could get away with slightly higher wedges, but sadly I can't.

I have a pair of lovely grey ankle boots. The leather is butter soft and heels very high. Given to me by DD who never wore them. I can’t walk or even stand up in them really, but I sometimes put them on while sitting on the sofa and admire them. grin

They don't have to be sky high, but shoes have to have heels for me to feel really dressed up. Pointy toes red heals- here I come.

KatyK Fri 10-Nov-17 19:47:57

Yes I wear them if I'm going to a wedding or something. I usually take a big enough handbag to squash a pair of ballet pumps into for emergencies!

Wear nothing but. I'm in a wheelchair now so don't see the point of wasting not being able to walk on boring shoes. But I do wear Irregular Choice shoes, and quite often have to fend off comments relating to being in a wheelchair and having the audacity to wear heels, usually from teenage girls. Funny world isn't it!

A lot of my line dancing class wear heels that have a strap around the ankle - they look so feminine I wiuld lovd to have a pair but so far have failed to find any that fit my size 8 extra wide feet!

USed to always wear heels in 60’s and 70’s... then kids came along and 3 prolapsed discs in my lower back. I now settle for daily comfort...pumps in summer... trainers for walking distance... and long and shirt boots in winter and autumn!! I once walked into my doctors surgery for some problem ...she saw my heels (1.5 inches) and gave me an very long lecture on heels and bad backs. Bit worn more than inch heel since!

I last wore heels at my twin Granddaughters 18th last year. I had bought a gorgeous black and silver dress and it needed heels.
Strappy leather ones , with ankle strap. Wore them all night and was even dragged up to dance with the Kids.
Had a great night and felt young again and fabulous.
Amazing what an heel can do!!!!
You'll have to drag me kicking and screaming into that Old Age malarky.

I remember saying I would never ever go into flats as they make me feel short and fat. I wear them a lot now and 2” heels. I to have some cracking stilettos, I don’t know If I will wear them again but I cannot throw them out just in case

lovebeigecardigans1955 Fri 10-Nov-17 15:55:30

I've got just one pair of fancy heels which I got in a sale a few years ago (they are unmatched - the right is a 3 while the left is a 2 1/2. They were very cheap as no-one else wanted them and are so comfy) - I think I've worn them twice.
I may never wear them again as my now almost matching pair of bunions would probably worsen if I did.
It's mostly flattish walking shoes for me these days.

Maggiemaybe Fri 10-Nov-17 15:52:40

I can beat that, inishowen. I bought some gorgeous 5" heels for my daughter's wedding. They cost a bomb and I only wore them for one hour, then the back up 3" heels came out.

I still love those lovely shoes and don't want to get rid of them. sad I might take up grandtanteJE65's idea and wear them round the house. smile

Only on special occasions when you need to dress up but I’ve still got 10 pairs I always wear heels to Ascot ladies day but take flats to change into later in day. My calves get a good workout but every other day I wear flats and try and get pretty ones.

lemongrove Fri 10-Nov-17 14:46:01

Only wear heels for weddings these days.Otherwise either flats or small heels, much more comfortable.
The high heels of ‘yesteryear’ certainly were lovely to look at though.
