Something to thicken hair

I posted about this a while back and tried some things that were suggested . The best by far was not using conditioner after every shampoo and when I do use it I only use a small amount. I tried a few styling products too and the best for me is Bed Head, Small Talk.

I use Nyassa's Hair Care Products such as Nyassa's Shampoo and Conditioner as it helps me to keep my hair Silky, soft, and head smells full of Natural fragrance.Their Products are 100% Natural so there is no way of thinking about any side effects.

Molton Brown for fine hair. They do a matching conditioner buy I only use that once in a blue moon. I keep my short and wash and blow dry every day. Only takes 5 mins.

You can change the shampoo that your are presently using and try the Argan oil.

I like Aussie shampoos. Maybe my hair is just getting thinner.

I think it's very much a case of trial and error because what suits one person's hair doesn't necessarily suit another's.

Having said that, I have for some years used Aussie Shampoo and Conditioner for coloured hair. I have tried other products but none have worked as well as this. The tip on Gransnet not to use hair conditioning wouldn't work for me as my hair (which is only chin length) would be quite tangled and difficult to comb through without using one.

I also take vitamin tablets for the hair from Holland and Barratt and I think they have made a difference.

Look at the Health - "Miraculous"(?) cod liver oil thread. It seems that a daily supplement of fish oil may improve your hair, among other things

Having used everything possible on my thinning hair I decided, as a last resort, to try minoxadil. Expected to get an allergic reaction to it but didn't. Not sure if it's making it grow thicker (have only been using it for a couple of months and it takes @ 4 for it to take effect) but it seems to thicken it dramatically when I put it on (albeit being a bit drying). I buy the Boots own brand which, thankfully I get a discount on (plus points on my card). Even if it doesn't help my hair to grow thicker I may just put it on my hair if I'm going out.

fumanchu Organic Surge Volume Boost Shampoo is brilliant. It's not the cheapest, but you don't need to use much. I think there's a conditioner to go with it, but I never use conditioner.

Seaside22 I think that, a lot of the time, it's not that we don't remember doing something, we simply don't register what we're doing in the first place, so it never gets into the memory banks.

Thank you. I feel much better knowing it's not only me. Just wish I could get rid of this awful tinnitus then I may be able to think more clearly too. Slowing down sounds a good idea and something I need to try, it's just the wrong time of the year at the moment ,think I'll make it a new years resolution.

Seaside It happens to all of us. I had a 'heated discussion' a couple of years ago when I rang the NHS screening programme to say that I should have been called that year for my three yearly mammogram. The nurse said 'you came and had one in April.' I said 'no I didn't'. She said 'yes you did' and read out all my details and the date and time of my test. I had no recollection of it. My DH was unwell at the time and I put it down to stress.

Happens to me too - usually the other way around - there is less money in my purse than I expected!

Please don't worry about it - I too have a lot on my mind these days and I forget things.

Don't worry about it Seaside. It is probably because you are anxious and busy. Try and slow down a little. Write lists of things to do or buy so you can clear your brain a little. It is probably a one off. Relax about it.

Hi there, feeling worried about myself this morning, I am sixty and becoming very forgetful Yesterday I found forty pound in my purse, no idea how it got there, I've checked on my bank statement this morning, and it shows I withdrew fifty pounds from a cash machine in a shopping centre, I have no recollection of this.It really bothering me, I've been awake since 2 30 this morning thinking about it.I small very busy at the moment, and feeling anxious about my family, Butility never done this before.

I have just starting to use .Aveda shampoo , conditioner and thickening products, expensive but a discount for new customers and you only need a small amount

fumanchu I go along with Batiste dry shampoo or similar.

I put conditioner on first (keep away from roots) and rinse.
Then use shampoo (volume type)
When hair is completely dry, tip head upside down a blast in the dry shampoo
Do not use a brush or comb this will brush out the dry shampoo
use only your fingers to style your hair.
And pray for dry wind free day

Aveda hair thickening tonic works best for me, it's rather expensive but having tried just about every volumising product on the market, this actually works

I use Aussie (??) volume shampoo and conditioner but don't use the conditioner every day. This works well for me and isn't hugely expensive.

I have the same problem fumanchu. It does get me down as i always had thick hair. Also use dry shampoo sprYs which help, plus hairspray but after sleeping on it its fkat and lank. Also use the little bottles of what looks like talc to give it lift. The shampoos i have tried havnt made a difference. Currently using the coffee shampoo from Germany, green. bottle. Forget the Name.

I don't have a problem with volume as my hair is very long but my DD has her hair just chin length and it is very fine and drops quickly,she has been using Charles Worthington shampoo and conditioner for washing etc but has also followed up with Elnet creme mousse which has worked very well and she now only washes 2/3/ times a week.
Also the cut you have can make a lot of difference to the overall effect always invest in a good cut.
