Meghan's white coat

In a picture in today's paper of Harry and Meghan she is wearing a white coat with a large collar and a tie belt. At first sight I honestly thought it was a dressing-gown. Just saying as in "it would look like a dressing-gown on anyone" so this is a statement about the style I saw not a criticism of M.

The only way you can wear a belted coat with style is: you can't be bigger than a stick insect ? And no shorter than 6ft tall.
Marilyn carried it off because ... well, she was Marilyn ?

I didn't use it either.

Baggs Fri 05-Jan-18 19:49:38

cherrytree, it doesn't work! Well, it kinda works... pathetically ?

Maggiemaybe Fri 05-Jan-18 19:30:04

Oo, loopyloo, that’s got me interested! grin

loopyloo Fri 05-Jan-18 19:01:40

Do you think it's just possible she is covering up a little bump?

Cherrytree59 Fri 05-Jan-18 18:59:33

PS I didn't use GN search facility
Not even sure how it works

Cherrytree59 Fri 05-Jan-18 18:56:19

Oops crossed post!!

The fashion industry will be keeping a keen eye.

At the moment the 'Soon to be Royal' is following fashion.
In the near future she could be very well setting a trend.

We had a July thread where Theresa May's pink dress was discussed.

Both Ladies are in the public domain

After quickly reading through this thread and casting my mind back to the Theresa May's little pink dress one I think there's a degree of pot, kettle and blackery afoot
confused
How hard did you have to look to make THAT connection Merlot ?
And who says the search facility on GN is rubbish? hmm

Jalima1108 Fri 05-Jan-18 17:45:15

Rather an expensive dressing gown (over £2,000) and sold out at the moment, so sorry folks, you can't order one the same until at least February.

Shame, my old towelling M&S one is wearing out.

NotTooOld Fri 05-Jan-18 17:27:27

I think she looks good in the coat, I mean (as this is a thread about a coat) I think the coat looks good on her. I hope the coat will be very happy married to Harry's Barbour. May they have many little jackets. grin

I've started making a bol sauce for dinner. It occurred to me that I might have had dressing-gowns on slim young things on the brain since Minibaggs came downstairs in hers (red) late yesterday afternoon.

Baggs Fri 05-Jan-18 16:58:00

There has certainly been some grabbing of sticks at the wrong end in this thread ????

Baggs Fri 05-Jan-18 16:56:33

TY, nanak54. Maybe shout it next time ?.

Baggs Fri 05-Jan-18 16:55:20

I'm beginning to sympathise with the bloody-minded exaggerations of people like Katie Hopkins. I've nearly finished her book and although I wouldn't call it a great book, it's certainly very funny in places and in others makes her seem quite ordinary really, nothing like the tabloid persona she has developed (and had developed for her).

nanaK54 Fri 05-Jan-18 16:54:24

I don't Baggs - my 'whispers quietly' was a joke!

Baggs Fri 05-Jan-18 16:51:08

I like it too! It just looked like a dressing-gown for half a second when I first saw the picture, which, btw, was a little inset in a much bigger picture of a rough sleeper in Windsor, which, in turn, is why there was a pic of Harry and Meghan, (and which puts the article in question in the "things that are going on in the world" category), all of which explains why, AT FIRST GLANCE, I thought it looked like a dressing-gown.

Ye gods! Give me strength! Why do so many gransnetters think everything is an attack?

nanaK54 Fri 05-Jan-18 16:45:01

< whispers quietly> well I like it smile

Baggs my daughter sometimes texts WTFF - because sometimes one isn't enough grin

ffinnochio Fri 05-Jan-18 13:33:59

I don’t have a dressing gown, but will be buying one when I return to the uk. Thanks for the pic. - it’s given me an idea of something to aim for. grin

annsixty Fri 05-Jan-18 13:29:24

Isn't that the same coat she wore on the day the engagement was announced?

Baggs Fri 05-Jan-18 13:28:01

I've decided to spell it with a double f: ffuxake.

Baggs Fri 05-Jan-18 13:12:31

YUS! And T.Y. gknot, for getting my light-hearted early morning off the cuff remark ? instead of being a bloody fuxake about it ?

I don't think fuxake was invented as a noun but it is one now in my vocabulary. It is a light hearted word too in spite of its friends and relations.

Grannyknot Fri 05-Jan-18 11:14:16

It totes looks like a dressing gown in that pic.

I'm now being offered on online M.A. in fashion grin via a pop-up advert. grin
