Where does everyone buy their swimwear and what do you buy?

I despair of finding something I like that will last and look flattering! I find tankinis better as it's easier to get in and out of (and go to the loo!!) but can't find anything!

I recently bought a maternity cozzie from Asad. Fitted a treat and hid a load of lumps and bumps.

I dislike the fact that almost all swimsuits nowadays have padded boob cups. They never fit well. Some are removable, but not all.

Try separates from Asda, cheap & cheerful but plenty of choices.

I buy from Kaleidoscope online. Very nice tankinis and reasonable too.

I bought a swimdress from Sainsbury's with 25% off. It fits me better than all the other makes (and I have tried many) and also hides the top of my thighs.

Tankinis. From wherever I can find them on the internet - often Amazon. Prefer separate top and bottom as my top size is bigger than bottom. I have a couple of Tankini/Bikini pants in black so can join these with any tankini top with a bit of black in it.

I don't buy those that are hard to do up at the back any more!

After spending a fortune over the years (curvy with big boobs) I now have two swimsuits, one from Bon Marche and the other from Matalan. They were less than half the price of others I've tried and fit very well. Though I think they might be a size larger than I would normally take. Even so, well worth it.

I can warmly recommend Lands End's Tugless Tank, have bought the regulation black version twice and there really is no need to tug it down - with wearer-friendly soft cups too - www.landsend.co.uk/Womens_Tugless_Swimsuit_with_soft_cup_bra/pp/P_14246.html

I am showing my ignorance as I dont very often buy swimwear but need to this year, is a Tankini basicallly a top and shorts?, are they better than a swimsuit?

lesley4357 Sun 25-Feb-18 13:43:30

Bravissimo or on line who sell Fantasie swimwear. Sized same as bras.

I don’t do holidays or sunbathing...but I do swim 1 mile, four times a week. I buy Zoggs ( bit snug) or Speedo’s.I find they all start to ‘go thin’ after 2/3 months if I get any other make. It must be polyester/Cotten mix for serious swimming!

Tankinis are two piece swimsuits but with a lot more coverage than a bikini and much more convenient than a one piece when answering the call of nature Nanny 41. I have just bought a new one from Sainsbury's who had a good selection with 25% off. Another advantage is you can get different sized tops and bottoms.

Blinko Sun 25-Feb-18 14:08:13

Nanny41, yes a tankini is basically a top and shorts. The main benefits are that you can mix and match sizes and also colours. They are also much easier than a swimsuit for going to the loo.

Bought my last swimwear from Sainsbury’s. Didn’t go there for that, but saw it, tried it and love it.

missdeke Sun 25-Feb-18 14:50:04

www.swimwear365.co.uk have a good selection of tankinis.

Worthingpatchworker Sun 25-Feb-18 14:57:51

I used to get mine from BHS....they would have a great range of tankinis along with bottoms with skirt shapes attached.
I shall check out all of the recommendations to find my next need. Thank you for raising this issue.

Bon Prix online. Good range of styles, sizes, and prices.

I bought my first ever bikini from Amoena two years ago. I couldn't wear one before.

SeaWatcher Mon 26-Feb-18 07:35:05

Zoggs website. Really nice swimsuits and all the ones I've had from them have been chlorine resistant so ideal if you swim or do aqua aerobics. They definitely go up to size 20. Simply Swim's website is good too.

have just bought a 'shorts' swimming costume from sports direct .looks good

Lands End every time. They are flattering and the legs are in a range of cuts. You can even get control suits, tankini etc. etc. They are quite expensive, but last for years.
