Shapewear

We are going to a family wedding in April and I have been looking for an outfit. Normally I live in things to cover my flabby belly, I'm not one for really dressing up, but the bride is my only neice and goddaughter so want something special. I have tried a few outfits on but I feel as though belly is to prominent. I have been thinking about shapewear but don't know where to start. Any suggestions would be gratefully received as it's to late for a tummy tuck ha ha.

Worn under clothes, you can alter how you look to give you the confidence you need to wear even your most daring outfit. But they aren't magic wands. Once you take the shapewear off your body is still the same underneath. So while shapewear might flatter your body, it can't change it permanently. Click here to read more about shapewear guides.

Can you imagine wearing shape wear on a few dates

and then, you know!

Do you get normal size. Or down one?

Well you have done your best Jalima. Don't expect a thank you note from the Palace. He will no doubt have the once over from the Royal Vet to check he is in tiptop condition. ?

Jalima1108 Mon 15-Oct-18 19:55:59

and he tells me he is hand-fed by a liveried butler.
DH refuses to dress up and won't hand-feed him so he's going back on the next train, in the guard's van.
(The corgi, not DH.)

Well he is used to eating out of a gold bowl Jalima so please do not lower his standards with some plastic bowl from the pet shop.

Jalima1108 Mon 15-Oct-18 18:25:49

No, he says he wants to stay here, it's more peaceful!

Jalima I followed theNHS diet closely for the first few weeks and wrote everything down. I now know what I can and can’t eat so only do an occasional calorie check now. I have lost a stone and other than the first few weeks of getting used to changes I have found it easy.

By the way have you sent the corgi back to her Mag ? ?

Jalima1108 Sun 14-Oct-18 23:08:06

Ah - but useful! Thank you
I am going to look up the NHS 12 week diet plan smile

Thanks for telling me Lemongrove.

NanKate this is an old thread smile

NanaW I get awful stomach ache with shapewear.

You have 6 months till the wedding. Why don’t you come and join us on I’m a Pear thread? We are all slowly losing weight together with a whole variety of healthy eating plans. You could easily lose a stone or more by April, what a result that would be.

I am using the free NHS 12 week diet plan easily found online.

I’ve bought various pieces of shapewear and have abandoned them all. Too hot, too restricting or just too uncomfortable and rolling up or down.

But I do have one of the bodies in this link which I like a lot. I’m too lazy to go upstairs and check which one I’ve got but it’s quite light support but does enough to smooth the torso to make enough of a difference in how my ‘good’ dresses look on me. No unsightly bra lines and knicker waist lines are smoothed out. I’ve been thinking for a while that I should get another one.

wear light trousers floaty, and fabulous shoes. A great haircut and colour and a lovely top.

MarpleBlue28 Sun 14-Oct-18 20:25:19

Can someone help me here - when buying shapewear do you buy your normal size or a size below?

I wore the full slip one for my daughter's and my own weddings . It was really comfortable and gave me a sleek silhouette which was very flattering. I felt very confident in it. Why don't you go and try some on ? They are very worth trying.

I've always fancied a salwar kameez suit, but never got round to ordering one:
www.utsavfashion.com/salwar
But they don't tell you the sizes, and most come as pieces ready to be stitched. I like the idea of matching trousers, because I have spindleshanks legs.
Here's a selection for plus sizes:

Forgot to say, I too bought control wear for my daughters wedding, started off OK, but when I got up after the meal, I found it had started rolling down from under the bust and I looked like I'd got two sets of boobs - off to my room to remove and feel comfortable, no one looks at you much after the ceremony!!

Have you thought of trying the Lagenlook style clothes? You don't say what size you are or how tall, but what about something like this

www.lagenlookclothinguk.co.uk/collections/new-in/products/copy-of-lagenlook-lace-poncho-top-in-dove-grey-code-14052

I started buying some of their stuff when due to disability the weight went on, and when I wear something floaty like the one in the link, find I feel very elegant, might be worth a look???

If you Google 'Lagenlook', there are lots of companies that sell it, some is better made than others, but you can usually get an idea from the price - the company I gave the link to, is generally a reasonable finish.
