Or so Boots say about their new Line Correcting Booster Serum ? It costs £38.00 ? I wish I didn’t feel tempted to use it on the two lines between my eyes. Anyone else likely to have a go or have you got more sense than me?

A broad smile does more for your looks than any cream could! grin

I worked on a cosmetics counter as a Saturday job when at school; the beauty consultant told me that most people in the know had a bathroom cabinet full of Nivea and similar budget items, and that if you put a little cooking oil on your face for a fortnight it would look better - the secret being using a moisturiser every day, not which moisturiser you use. I have remembered her wise words and use Nivea still. I've heard about the piles ointment trick. Never tried it though - has anyone else? I like glycerine and rosewater too - it's been around for years and makes your skin feel absolutely lovely.

I never fall for any of this. How about trying the piles ointment instead? Not tried it myself, but it's supposed to do things to wrinkles......?

I will stick with my long fringe! These companies just play on women’s insecurities about their looks and age. We all feel under pressure these days. Don’t they say a smile is the best Face Lift?

Marieeliz Sat 14-Apr-18 10:27:39

Saw someone purchasing it yesterday. They had a £5 voucher given to them by the assistant so got it for £33!

I've used that on my eye bags missdeke. It works, but it smells awful!

MillyG Sat 14-Apr-18 10:19:30

I’m beginning to give up on serums, yes they feel great but boy are they expensive! I’ve started using Glycerin & Rosewater instead and it seems just as good to me. And a darn site cheaper too. Available from Boots, part of their Traditional range, £2.39 for 200ml, often found on the very lowest shelf. No, I’m not on commission haha grin

I second The Ordinary products. Minimal packaging and very inexpensive. They do a really good primer and I use their Buffet for moisturiser. Always used skincare and have pretty good skin but never spent a fortune! Also love Superdrug Hot Cloth Cleanser, at £4.99 and frequently on offer, it is a lovely gentle cleanser, much cheaper than Liz Earle!

Like Panache I also tried their other miraculous face cream - surprise, surprise it didn't make any difference so will not be trying the latest.

A quick fix to temporarily reduces fine lines and wrinkles is to apply haemorrhoid cream before makeup, it tightens the skin. Learnt that from a model.

Nice one grin Chewbacca that put a smile on my face.

GabriellaG Sat 14-Apr-18 09:46:34

Sorry. Should read 'those words DON'T' blush

GabriellaG Sat 14-Apr-18 09:45:01

COULD and UP TO 5 years. Those words doesn't mean anything. A big get-out clause.
My view is that the 17 thousand purported to be on a waiting list are crazy but each to her own.
You see what you want to see.
The Emperor's New Clothes, comes to mind.
It's not scientifically proven, only clinically and those trials were paid for by the companies who will profit, and Boots is one of them.
Their blurb states that 'we commissioned independent trials'.
I think that says it all. Who paid for the trials? Lol. Boots.
The number of women was 100 or less and were we told the ages? NO. Whether these women already had a regular skincare routine or not? NO.
A mix of ethnicities or predominantly white European? NO.
A mix of blonde, brunette, redheads, fair, sallow, olive, freckled, sun-damaged skin? NO.
All the above factors count but none were disclosed.

I was bought a jar of Dior moisturiser for Christmas a couple of years ago. It cost over £100 a pot -- I checked--. It was absolutely no different in results or texture to Lacure from Aldi @ £2.99 a pot. But the Dior pot is lovely so I just tip the cheapie into it! grin

PamelaJ1 Sat 14-Apr-18 09:38:39

Botox will get rid of those lines.
You can just have it in that area so it wouldn’t look unnatural.
Doesn’t hurt anything but your ?

Carolpaint Sat 14-Apr-18 09:35:00

Whatever you choose, put on a moisturiser night and morning Boots Traditional Skin Cream is good at £1.59 for 200 ml, will not break the bank. However Lostmyglasses is right put on anything with a SPF in on top, usually your foundation has this, but I realise many women choose not to wear make-up.

Diggingdoris Sat 14-Apr-18 09:33:42

I agree with 1974cookie , having recently been told by many people that I look ten years younger after having my hair style radically changed. After all we cannot stop the ageing process permanently can we?

trisher Sat 14-Apr-18 09:25:51

For £38 I'd want a lot more than 5 years, now 15 might make me interested otherwise I'll stick to supermarket offers on Nivea etc.

Lostmyglassesxx Sat 14-Apr-18 09:22:47

Please don’t ignore skincare whatever your age...
This product will work but it’s stuffed full of chemicals as well. Have a look at the Ordinary range and Niod from deciem ..it really is good and reasonably priced. I am not selling it but I use various products. - it has natural and scientific ingredients and it’s based on valid scientific research .. our skin deserves some care.... And wear SPF ..the sun gives you the wrinkles !

amy2shoes Sat 14-Apr-18 09:15:53

Instead of paying 38 pounds why not use coconut oil instead each day and night, completely natural and certainly helps with moisturising the skin to keep wrinkles at bay

Persistentdonor Sat 14-Apr-18 09:15:26

I already had those "two lines between my eyes" 5 years ago, so I guess it won't help me much. sad

M0nica Sat 14-Apr-18 09:04:58

But what does 70 (or 65 or 80) look like? By that age how people look is so various that how can anyone know that any particular cream has made you look 5 years younger?confused

OldMeg Sat 14-Apr-18 07:03:35

A smile can knock years off!

OldMeg Sat 14-Apr-18 07:02:05

These products only work (temporarily) on very fine lines. They won’t touch grooves ???

absent Sat 14-Apr-18 06:44:39

Nothing knocks any year off any age – you are still the same age. The product might – or might not – make your skin look smoother and how nice is that and why shouldn't you use it if you want to? But, whatever age you are, that is the age you look because you are that age. In other words, I am 67 and I am what 67 looks like because I am 67. Someone else who is 67 may look less lined, less white-haired and less skinny, but that is also what 67 looks like. Someone else, of course, might look more wrinkly, have coloured hair and be fatter and, nevertheless, still looks 67.
