Cream foundation recommendations please

I don’t wear foundation often but recently, when I do, it all just sits in my creases and makes them worse!
After a bit of research, I gather that ‘cream’ foundations are better for mature skin.
I originally thought mine was cream but now think it’s liquid foundation.

Googling just confuses me so I’m hoping some of you wise women might be able to help me please.
What cream foundations can you recommend?

Thanks

I've tried Rimmel BB creams. I found their Very Light is too light and Light is too dark. I've been mixing the two to get anything like my actual colouring. I must try a makeover in one of the stores. They can surely advise on the best match.

Right now, though, I only use blusher and eyeshadow. So I'm grateful for all the advice on here. Months of experimenting seem to loom....

oh, a lot of helpful information here, thanks!

As others have said, I find that Bare Minerals is so much better than anything else I’ve tried.
You can vary the coverage, easy to apply,it sort of morphs into the skin and has excellent protection against UV. I’ve had a skin cancer so I’m very aware of that.
I was in London with a friend and we got almost dragged into a shop to try their fantastic products. I was the one she picked to demonstrate on as ‘I wasn’t wearing any makeup’ so it would be easier for her.
She was wrong as she found out. It just looks so natural.
Did I forget to mention that I have a perfectly smooth naturally radiant skin? Oh, flawless too??

Thanks to the person who recommended the Avon one. (Haven't time to trawl back at the moment). I had never thought of trying Avon foundation but ordered their True Colour one and it's great.

Thanks Annsixty!

That should have said Botanics BB cream Radiant Youth.

annsixty Tue 22-May-18 07:21:44

Polly the Boots B&B cream is called BB cream
Radiant Youth I use the fair shade in winter and the medium shade in summer when I have some colour due to the sun.
It is a light cover and I have used it for a long time.
It looks very natural on an older skin.
I do use a moisturizer under it.
Hope you will try it.

Cc cream is the way to go doesn’t sit in lines as foundation or powder does but brings skin to life ....... Clinique moisture surge cc cream is the best I’ve tried ?

I’ve had a break through regarding foundation since reading this thread.

I have never been able to find a foundation cream that is the right colour for me even though I have had advice from beauty consultants.

Anyway I decided to have another go and I am not sure if one of you mentioned I’Oreal but if you did thanks. They show a number of women wearing each different colour and I found one that looked like my own shade. So I bought Vanilla Rose from the True Match range, plus under eye concealer and powder all in the same colour. It is much thinner that my usual foundation but it looks really nice (pity about the face ?) I also have bought the primer by Revolution from Superdrug recommended here, thanks.

So it looks after 71 years I am sorted.

I would still like to know what tis boots tinted moisturiser is called? Presumably own brand? Not sure I can get to the other shops mentioned but will look.

If you have a Space NK nearby it's worth going in and they will test different foundations/primers on you. Well worth a visit!!

Tinted moisturiser may be the answer.

Ive just about given up on foundation and cover blemishes and age spots with a good skin matching concealer. Lancome do a good one. It makes a good base for eye makeup too. I like blusher as it helps me look less tired and wan.

If a company wants to sell its cosmetic products in China, they have to submit them to animal testing. Sadly, many companies favoured on this thread come into this category.

I also agree with Lucky girl. I suppose the idea is to cover blemishes. It used to be to reduce shine too -which is why I have always used moisturiser &pressed powder - but I gather that shiny is now ok!
The word foundatipn implies lots of other layers on top. I cant stand lots of stuff on my face and think its bad for the complexion. Im told powder is old fashioned to if I can find a tinted moisturiser with sunblock.it would be good. As I end up putting sunblock on my face after powdering my nose sometimes!!!

Lazigirl Sun 20-May-18 10:33:37

I'm with you on this one Luckygirl. Up close I rarely see make-up enhancing older faces. I think it's probably good to use moisturiser and a sun block on the face, but I suppose you use what gives you confidence. It's natural to want to look the best you can but there's a hugely profitable beauty industry benefiting from pushing stuff with over inflated claims.

Thanks everyone!!
So many suggestions!

I’d love to try them all to find the perfect one. I bought a Maybelline one last week, which has been recommended on other sites and was more of a cream than a liquid.
However, my skin feels tight and dry and I think that’s my problem.
My hair has become very dry recently, and despite using a decent moisturiser, I am really struggling with my skin too.
I actually don’t wear a lot of make up and was wanting the foundation for DD’s wedding in a few weeks.
So, after weighing up all the options, I think I might settle for a tinted moisturiser.

Thanks for all the suggestions for online purchases but I struggle with colour matching when I have the products in front of me, so there’s no hope of getting the right colour online!
And regarding asking make up counter assistants - I am yet to find one that seems truely interested/knowledgeable! hmm

I’ll set out on my quest for tinted moisturisers now...... fingers crossed grin

Excuse my ignorance but what is foundation FOR? I have never been near anything like that in my whole life and wonder what its purpose is.

If it sits in the wrinkles and emphasizes them and you mind about that then why use anything at all?

Barmeyoldbat Sun 20-May-18 08:27:21

When I do use it I use Bobby Browns and I apply moisturiser first works well but the best I find is fresh air!

Cherrytree59 Sat 19-May-18 22:30:28

Grandmama I have recently started using an Avon primer for open pores
Which I apply before using either number 7 intelligent colour or Number 7 BB
tinted cream.

It seems to cover the pores quite well under make-up

Look fabulous forever website. Lots of good tips

I’d go to your local Boots beauty counter and tell them what you’ve told us. Start with Boots No.7 then try one of the others such as Benefit a few days later. Clarins products are fab and never irritate my skin. Been using them since I hit 40yo. Clinique; Vichy; Maybelline; Chanel. I’d try them all. There’s no obligation to purchase but do listen to the advice from the beauty consultants, then go with the products you like. Ooh, you can have lots of fun trying out new make-up!

Greciangirl Sat 19-May-18 17:49:06

Flaxseed.

Do try this. It’s a lovely creamy foundation in a pot with its own sponge.

Max Factor Miracle Touch skin smoothing foundation.
Comes in many shades.

I think I've said on another thread somewhere I've tried every foundation known to woman over the years including LFF and Mally and Doll 10 which both cover well but I can't seem to find the right colour to suit me. I've had the colour matching done by No 7 but it didn't stay on enough even though I use a primer over moisturiser. The one I come back to all the time is Bare Minerals complexion rescue which just seems to blend in and look natural. I sometimes use the BM mineral veil over it which is very fine and other days I use the BM original powder instead. I have a Doll 10 motorised brush which is very good for blending as I think that seems to be the secret to getting a good coverage and not having everything settle into the cracks age imperfections grin

Alimarb Sat 19-May-18 15:56:29

I don't use it often but mine is a kind of mousse, its brilliant. Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse.
