I loved it, stylish, chic and very Megan, the tiara was beautiful, she wore it well. Standout outfit for me was Amal Clooney, what a stunning colour, thought Pippa looked gorgeous too, posh, not so much....... what did you all think?

sparkly1000 Sat 19-May-18 22:33:16

As it has even overtook me once again.

sparkly1000 Sat 19-May-18 22:31:41

mcem, you are correct, predictive text overlook me.

Menopaws Sat 19-May-18 22:03:36

They all did very well imo

I thought the whole event was joyous, elegant and both Meghan and Harry looked wonderful.

I must admit I was surprised about Meghan's mother being alone as I thought there were members of her family attending the wedding. What a moment for her to savour when looking at her beautiful daughter getting married, as any mother of the bride will do.

I thought Prince Charles gave a warm smile both when he took Meghan to the alter and by initiating taking the hand of Meghan's mother for the signing.

I have not commented on the wedding before but I think it was a glorious day and I wish them well .

She was very dignified and looked lovely. I do think they should have had someone to share her pew though.

I was not impressed by the Charles holding her hand thing - she put her hand out to him and he took a moment to work out what was going on. Or so it seemed to me.

Megan's mother.
Perhaps she was 'offered an arm' to escort her but declined.
Just a thought.

You wouldn't see one of those even in an oxfam shop anymore. It would go straight in the rag bag grin
It's bad for a young woman when your mother looks more stylish than you.

mcem Sat 19-May-18 19:50:59

sparkly - African bishop?
Do you mean the the cleric who delivered the sermon?
He is the head of the Episcopalian church in the USA and as such has probably had the opportunity to preach to significant congregations ( though today was no doubt the biggest so far!
Seems a bit dismissive and patronising to me.
Although it was a fairly long address I found it warm and passionate in a way I have never seen in the context of the C of E. Any C of E service I've experienced seemed cold and formulaic unlike the nonconformist churches.

ninathenana Sat 19-May-18 19:03:32

I have always thought it was one of the ushers jobs to escort any unaccompanied ladies down the aisle to their seat.
That's what happened at our wedding.

Luckygirl Sat 19-May-18 19:00:29

One of the York sisters looked as though she was wearing crimpelene from an Oxfam shop!

I’m by no means an ardent royalist, but I’ve seen people online complaining about the taxpayer paying for Meghan’s £300,000 dress. I don’t believe it cost anything like that, and, as she has a few bob, I’m sure she’d pay for it herself. Of course, she may not have had to pay anything, as the young designer will be set for life, and Givenchy won’t suffer either!

£26,000 for sausage rolls?

petra Sat 19-May-18 18:26:40

I'm pretty certain that Camilla was giggling under that huge hat when the American preacher was giving his sermon.
As for the York sisters. I looked smarter watching my granddaughter diving this morning!!

Juggernaut Sat 19-May-18 18:24:49

I thought Megan looked beautiful, that dress was perfect for her! It was by far the most elegant Royal wedding dress since Princess Anne married Mark Phillips.
Harry's just gorgeous, so much better looking than William, and they make a beautiful couple.
That American Pastor didn't half waffle on though, I fully expected someone to get the giggles, how embarrassing would that have been?
Victoria Beckham, as always, looked as though she was sucking a lemon.
Beatrice and Eugenie need to brighten up their wardrobe, they both dress way beyond their years.
Maj was her usual regal self, but poor Phil looked weak and tired, hardly surprising though, he's not in the first flush!
It was lovely to see Zara and Mike Tindall looking so happy together, and Zara looking so healthy and glowing, what a 'normal' couple they seem to be.
Like kittylester I would have expected the Royals to have found someone to escort Megan's mum, she looked a lonely figure sitting by herself. She surely should have been seated on the front row too, she was MoTB after all!
I had decided to ignore the wedding completely, but had 'just a quick peep' as Harry and William arrived, and somehow managed to sit down and watch the whole thing!

Nobody can put on a show of pageantry like the Brits. The African Bishop went on a bit, but there I don't suppose he's had the opportunity to preach to most of the world before so was making the most of it. I noticed that Prince Philip had a wry smile on his face as the sermonising went on and on, however the Queen, head down, appeared to be concentrating on something else? I reckon she was logged into GransNet on her iPad!

Beautiful dress. Just right. Harry looked quite emotional which I thought was sweet. A wonderful occasion. I did feel for Meghan's mother on her own but Prince Charles made sure she wasn't left out - a lovely touch. I quite liked the preacher - though he did go on a bit too long! But he certainly made the occasion that bit different from the 'normal' royal weddings!!!

Welshwife Sat 19-May-18 17:46:41

I thought that Charles was lovely to both Meghan and her mother. I agree about her having an escort - I had to walk down a much shorter aisle at the wedding of DS but it was still daunting.
I thought the duchess of Kent looked frail and I see she needed to wear trainers.
Lovely to see a different guest list to the normal politicians.

Jamison Sat 19-May-18 17:43:32

Beautiful, elegant, and regal, Meghan you and your Mum did yourselves proud, every good wish for Harry and his lovely bride.

shysal Sat 19-May-18 17:18:47

I was pleased to see Charles take and hold Meghan's mum's hand when they went to sign the register etc.

A lovely woman wearing an elegant, understated gown and a smile to warm the coldest heart. The veil was special. Her tiara was stunning. Her flowers were perfect in their simplicity. Harry together with his wife will make a good team. I wished that Meghan's mother had had a close personal friend beside her. Even so, she was poised throughout the entire ceremony. I thought that the best outfit was that worn by Earl Spencer's wife.

Cherrytree59 Sat 19-May-18 17:15:53

The dress imho had style and grace.
Her veil had a surprise connection to the commonwealth.

Also thought the little flower girls looked lovely. The page boys did wonderful job.

The arch of flowers framed the bride and groom beautifully as they emerged from the cathedral.

The mother of bride looked lovely but I felt for her sitting her own and obviously overwhelmed.

My vote also goes to Amal Clooney's outfit.

Got bit fed up with cameras constantly panning in on the Beckhams. ?

What a superb day weatherways, could not have been better for the multitude of celebrations going on up and down the country, ideal for the Royal Wedding, the finery and of course the long open carriage trip through the streets of Windsor.

Absolutely a beautiful wedding, certainly very little of the pomp and ceremony of usual Royal weddings yet enough to make it stand out from the norm, all for the right reasons.

A rather nervous Harry until his bride was safely at his side and then and thereafter how the love shone through in their eyes.
For that reason and the fact it was not a guest list of royals and Politicians but just those that were in the forefront in their Charity work, plus all those that Harry........and Meghan had been heavily involved in over the years.......each in their individual ways, made it special.

Meghan`s Mum, just like her daughter walking up the aisle alone.......showed pure courage and a great inner strength and composure throughout.

The dress was equally suberb, very simple, extremely elegant, beautiful material as did not crease and showed off her beautiful figure to a T............whilst the boat neckline does such wonders for a ladies decolette, which is one of most ladies best features and with Meghan and her light olive colouring, it was just right.

A lovely train with its embroidery reflecting the many nations involved ,stunning tiara and again understated jewellery.............in fact this understated elegance was what made the whole outfit stunning.

Such poise too, indeed it seems this young lady is going to have the cameras follow her every move
.
Such ideal simple florals..... but then an abundance beautifully decorating the Chapel and it seems the roses scented the entire inside.

A plethora of young attendants looking ever so sweet and pretty, whilst how well behaved were they.

The guests certainly brought in a riot of colour but sadly quite a few needed some stylist direction!
However of course it reflected several countries and each to their own but certainly a delightful Wedding and one that will surely be a talking point for quite a while.

Wishing the newly weds a lifetime of health and happiness together.

sodapop Sat 19-May-18 17:15:07

I agree kittylester Meghan's Mum must have felt isolated, Prince Charles did help. I thought Meghan looked beautiful.
Yes Suedonim my thoughts exactly, why do the York girls always look frumpy.
Prince Philip made a great effort, he is a trouper.

Luckygirl Sat 19-May-18 17:13:08

I could not believe the royals whispering between themselves as Sheku was playing - blooming peasants! grin

loopyloo Sat 19-May-18 17:07:52

Kittylester, I totally agree. Someone could have been delegated to keep on eye on her. She did so well.

Gerispringer Sat 19-May-18 17:02:36

I loved the dress - elegant and stylish. Gospel choir - great. Megan’s mum very stylish too. didnt mind the pages’ military look, thought it better than the usual knickerbockers and frilly shirt look.
