I loved it, stylish, chic and very Megan, the tiara was beautiful, she wore it well. Standout outfit for me was Amal Clooney, what a stunning colour, thought Pippa looked gorgeous too, posh, not so much....... what did you all think?

Can Botox give one a permanent smile ? Just curious

Jalima1108 Thu 24-May-18 18:19:12

Hear hear Eglantine.
I think HM has perfected the art of looking 'impassive' when she may well want to smile, laugh or cry.
Americans may not understand that.
Meghan certainly doesn't yet.

Just a plea for kindness for those of us whose faces have sagged into grumpy lines. I’m actually quite a cheerful person but the alternative to looking grumpy is to go around grinning like a Cheshire Cat.

There is no in between ☹️?

I wish I could have all those people Megan had, doing my hair, make up etc and the designer dress which was a beautiful design, bet no one would recognise me,I didn't watch the wedding but saw one or two highlights, the best being some of the expressions of some royals including the queen, when listening to that long sermon. No one does pageantry as this country for sure. Low Harry, hope she didn't break his heart, she alwZys seems to be acting to me. Like the queen, she doesn't put a foot wrong in my opinion as our Monarch, only time I wavered a little was over Diana's death.
I have seen many brides as lovely as Megan, who had very little to spend.

Morethan2The lines are called marionette lines. As an American I don’t u derstand the queen looking like she was at a funeral either. And the same for Victoria Beckham who didn’t smile at Kate and Wills wedding either. I thought the wedding was lovely but the preacher even scares me. The look on the royal family’s faces when he was speaking was priceless. They finally let Sarah F attend a wedding as she wasn’t invited to Williams. She did make a mess of things I suppose.
I think the bride looked pretty but to each their own. I would have chosen a different dress and hairstyle but that’s me. But the main thing is that they did it their way and that’s what counts.

my mother always said the Queen only really smiled and looked happy in the presence of horses.

lilihu Wed 23-May-18 19:45:35

I wasn’t planning on watching it live and just tuned in for “a moment” - ended up watching the whole thing. I thought it was all wonderful. Beautiful wedding. Everything lovely.
Must admit, I’ve been amazed how many posters enjoy nitpicking. I wonder if they go through every occasion in their own lives in the same critical manner?
I was always told to comment on things I liked and keep the criticisms to myself. That’s how my mum and dad always behaved. ?

I loved it, all of it, but I love all weddings. I’m so not a royalist but for some reason I have a real soft spot for Harry (I must be getting sentimental in my old age) I think it’s because he looks a little like my own son. Mines not red headed or balding and of course mines much more handsome! and who can forget his little face at his mother funeral. She’s so beautiful I thought she looked stunning, oh the veil was gorgeous. I had a little tear as she came towards him and they took their vows. I thought the American preacher went on too long., but that’s probably our British reserve kicking in. I wanted to shout back”don’t shout at me” it gave me time to run to the loo. I so want them to be happy. I don’t think the queen can help looking a bit miserable, I don’t think she is, it’s those lines from the edge of the mouth to the chin (I know they have a name but I can’t remember what it is) I have them too and people are always saying “smile” and I expect she’d look a bit like the joker if she grinned none stop. I just loved it all. So much so I almost bought a copy of Hello magazine so I could gaze at the photos and I refuse to look at that at the hairdressers.

Entirely agree with the negative comment about the Queen. She always looks miserable as sin on formal occasions. Remember the opening ceremony for the 2012 Olympics? The bit with Daniel Craig was brilliant and then she ruined it with her sour face in real time. It's not showing bias to crack a smile occasionally. Prince Charles showed he is a real person with the care he gave to Meghan's mum.

As to the rest - Sarah Ferguson looked far better than her daughters. Pity she wasn't allowed to sit with them. David Beckham a pleb and his wife looked as if she was going to a funeral. I don't get the hysteria about Amal Clooney. She does nothing for me! And I didn't understand why half the celebs were there other than the fact that they were celebs,,,,,,,

Maw I am personally hurt by this comment, I’ve only got a cup of tea and a biscuit.

I’m afraid the outfit’s pretty spot on though blush

Anniebach Tue 22-May-18 08:52:44

I have never been called a Waynetta before?. Never, ever eaten a KFC though

sodapop Tue 22-May-18 08:40:21

Well said Maw and Gerispringer I thought they both looked so happy.

Anniebach Tue 22-May-18 08:40:04

I am surprised a woman in her ninties has receive more critcism from a larger number here than have criticised the bride .

We have been here before, the cruel queen and the beautiful bride. History repeating its self.

MawBroon Tue 22-May-18 08:30:47

gringrin

DanniRae Tue 22-May-18 08:22:40

That's uncanny MawBroon - how could you possibly know that you were exactly describing me - except you missed out the tattoos on my shoulders (thus cold shoulder top) and the facial piercings! But really good effort!! grin

MawBroon Tue 22-May-18 07:37:01

Well said Gerispringer!

Fortunately I don’t expect Meghan or Harry will be losing any sleep over some of the comments from the likes of the grudging Waynettas of this world, , slumped on the sofa in cold shoulder t shirts and jogging bottoms or ripped jeans, with a pint and a KFC bucket to hand.

Gerispringer Tue 22-May-18 07:28:19

I can’t believe how many people are bitching about a woman on her wedding day. I wonder how you’d feel if this was one of your family.
I think they looked a lovely couple and very happy. The official photographs are lovely particularly the one with the children and the one on the steps.

Emm14 Tue 22-May-18 06:06:27

Her hair was terrible! She should have had a sleek updo and not a scruffy bun with bits coming out of the back. So disappointing

farmgran Tue 22-May-18 00:29:45

I loved the whole thing, just perfect, the couple in love, the music, the flowers, the dress.
I thought it very bad mannered of the Queen to look so po faced throughout and not make an effort to look cheerful. I suppose thats the thing with royalty and aristocracy, they can do as they like and simply not care.

mumofmadboys Mon 21-May-18 22:53:33

I think they are a lovely couple. They appear so happy and united. I wish them a really happy and long marriage.

Anniebach Mon 21-May-18 22:12:33

Maggie ?

muffinthemoo Mon 21-May-18 22:09:43

She didn’t sing on most of the Spice Girls’ recordings in fact. She’s admitted she’s not confident about her voice.

Besstwishes Mon 21-May-18 22:02:31

I’ve never actually heard her sing.

But I’m sure that she would warble along with the best of them, smiling too I’m sure! I heard that Elton John performed during the reception and James Blunt said that he was begged not too!

Maggiemaybe Mon 21-May-18 21:58:54

And let's not forget the musical talent of Posh Spice. wink
