What possible reason could there be for hairs to grow wild on your chin once you pass the menopause?? ??

moggie57 Thu 09-Aug-18 12:44:28

i get hairs on my top lip regulary .i just shave them off and lighten any that are left.not really bothered its just they way we made. but it is a hormone unbalance...

I wish there was a way to transplant chin hairs on to my head. Where did it all go wrong!

Nannyliz Thu 09-Aug-18 12:04:11

MillieBear - I read somewhere if you tie a piece of cotton aound a skin tag it will eventually fall off. Last winter (knowing said area would be covered up with scarves or wooly jumpers) I was so fed up with the little blighters around my shoulders and neck I asked my OH to tie cotton around them. It worked and they haven't come back this year. We also had a great laugh whilst doing it!! {grin]

I’ve concluded that this is one very good reason why we shouldn’t take a young lover or marry a significantly younger man. I find it very reassuring that mine is old enough that he can’t see close-up without reading glasses. Consequently, he probably never sees my hairy chin!

I am soooo lucky. Got to about 40 before I even realised women had to shave body hair. Wasn't something girls talked about when I was young. One sister and myself are both blonde but my other sister is brunette. Other than a little underarm in the summer and the obvious other bit, none of us has ever had any body or facial hair. Neither did my mother. I tell my DH that I am very low maintenance.

A x10000 magnifying mirror with enough LED lights on to illuminate Wembley Stadium and I'm good to go. ;-)

Teacheranne Thu 09-Aug-18 11:05:44

So, how do I get rid of skin tags? I have tried lemon juice with no success.

homefarm Thu 09-Aug-18 11:04:22

The answer is a change in hormone levels.

Helen2806 Thu 09-Aug-18 11:02:22

Is you can afford it try getting your colours done. It’s made a huge difference to me and my confidence.

RustyBear Thu 09-Aug-18 10:48:58

@Stella1949 - I hope you always make sure the magnifying mirror isn’t pointing at something combustible! grin

My Eyebrows have a life of their own!!!! When the young girl waxes and trims them I always ask her to check my chin and upper lip and have made her promise to wax when necessary (even if I want to chicken out!!)

On the plus side I only get my legs waxed 3 or 4 times a year now. Underarm hair totally disappeared?

Juliet27 Thu 09-Aug-18 10:35:39

At least we don’t have hairs growing in our ears...or do we?!!

Elrel Thu 09-Aug-18 10:29:46

My eyebrows never needed much attention having a perfectly all right shape naturally. No longer, however, they sprout long thick white hairs apparently overnight. If I try to tweezer out the most obvious I invariably manage to miss and leave a gap in the dark hairs. Oh well, I did have at least 60 years of not having to bother plucking!
Yesterday I had a hearing test which showed very little deterioration and no need for an aid. So they really do mumble in tv dramas! I shall still put phones on speaker however.

Purplepoppies Thu 09-Aug-18 10:18:18

I've been lucky in life, I haven't ever had very many under arm hairs (6 or 7 if that) and my legs aren't too bad either. I haven't got bristly chin hairs but have developed facial down ?. It's blonde! I'm dark haired (naturally, but dye my head hair) and is very long! Drives me insane! It's around my jaw, under my ear area. I tried buffing it off but I made my skin sore ?

Nannykay Thu 09-Aug-18 10:11:18

It’s like the rest of my body only this is the hair on my head going south

MillieBear Thu 09-Aug-18 10:06:33

And what's with the mouth? When I purse my lips my mouth looks like a cat's bottom. hmm When did that happen?

David1968 Thu 09-Aug-18 10:03:49

Oh poppyred, I so understand what you say. My hair (on head) is greying and thinning whilst the facial hair proliferates and stays dark. A friend is convinced that your hair just "redistributes itself" as you get older, going from your head to other places....

AlexG Thu 09-Aug-18 09:58:40

In a well lit lift recently my husband caught sight of my few bristly face hairs and was exceedingly amused by them. I usually tweezer them regularly but must have neglected to do so. He called me Billy Goat Gruff for sometime after that! Luckily he wasn't worried by them and I didn't mind the nickname. But why do eyebrows not grow (nor hair in a more delicate area) but these bristles grow on a top lip or chin? Very odd and something you don't know will happen when you are younger.

Coconut Thu 09-Aug-18 09:53:29

Mother Nature is very cruel !

Bathsheba Thu 09-Aug-18 08:08:11

Erm.....didn’t mean ‘dark skinned’, I meant ‘dark haired’!

MissAdventure Wed 08-Aug-18 22:10:24

I have skin tags too.
What a catch I am!
The full Monty!

Bathsheba Wed 08-Aug-18 22:02:01

What annoys me is that my eyebrows are disappearing, but hairs are sprouting on my chin and upper lip, grrr. That's just not playing the game in my book angry.

On the plus side, though, I can't remember the last time I needed to remove any underarm or leg hair. Several years. And being dark skinned, my hairy legs and armpits needed very regular attention when I was younger.

MillieBear Wed 08-Aug-18 21:51:16

Skin tags! They drive me mad. I get a crop of them every now and again. Always highly visible, always warty and ugly and always difficult to remove. I am morphing into a witch, I just know it.

MissAdventure Wed 08-Aug-18 20:02:14

I have spots and hairs.
Its like a game of 'top trumps'.
Any advance on spots and hairs?
