Setting lotion !!

I have very fly away hair and use a shampoo that gives it a bit of body, however when I blow dry my hair I would like some kind of spray/setting lotion as they used to call it, to thicken my hair up and make it less lank. Does anyone have a favourite that works for them ?

Frizz Ease - always find that helps my flyaway hair!

Frizz Ease will tame your hair, stop it being flyaway, but I don't think it will add any body, or make it appear thicker. I would say you need a good sculpting mousse - something like this by Paul Mitchell

There are plenty of others on the market too.

Yes I was going to suggest mouse or even mousse!!

I have thin, flat, flyaway hair.
I use an extra body mousse. Bedhead as recommended by on another thread by kitty I think , is very good

Lanza Healing Style

‘adds texture, volume & shine with resilient support’

That’s what it says on the label and it does just that. Got mine from my hairdresser but guess it’s available elsewhere too.

You only need a blob the size of a pea. Last for ever.

Thanks all. I will look a proper Bobbydazzler when I have nice full shiny hair.

Only use a small amount of conditioner on your hair and rinse this out thoroughly. Don't condition at every wash.
Always use hair protection before applying heat and only the smallest amount of serum for the fly away hair.
Don't use too many products on your hair it will make it lank.
I was given this advice by a hairdresser.

I do use Bedhead small talk, nina and I recently found it in Home Bargains at a really good price.

Does anybody remember “Friday night is Amami night” ?
My poor Scottish granny who had fine and fairly thin hair which we wore in a low bun, once confided that she had combed Amami through her hair as advised, but the lustrous curls on the photo on the box never materialised! sad

'Set to beauty with Amami'!
You're right, Maw, it never did work out the way it was supposed to. In my youth, I used to rinse with beer to thicken my hair. What a waste! My hairdresser recommended and sold me a product called 'Thicken'. It was quite effective and I subsequently bought some on line, although I can't find it there now.
Nowadays I like to use products not tested on animals. Can anyone suggest such a thing?

GrannyGravy13 Fri 17-Aug-18 14:19:53

annodomini you can get an app called bunny free, you can put in manufacturers name and it lets you know if they test on animals. For instance Estée Lauder has multiple companies and it lets you know which test on animals and which do not.

As a rough guide if the products are sold in China they have to be tested on animals.

Neom are really good as are Ren.

I remember "Friday night is Amami night" and the term bobbydazzler, not heard much now.

Frizz ease is great if you have thick frizzy hair, but avoid it completely if your hair is fine as all it will do is make it look flat, and as I found, greasy. YUK !!
Mousse is excellent, but again be careful as some of them can leave your hair looking a bit greasy if your hair is fine. I use the same one as my hairdresser uses on me.
Lastly, I swear by Elnett Very Volume hairspray to finish. It really does control fine hair, and the volume stays all day.
This hot weather however has played absolute havoc with my hair, and I have struggled to do anything with it. Now that it has cooled back down,my hair is behaving itself once more. It really is about finding what suits your hair NanKate.
One more thing that I read recently re: Shampoo + conditioner.
Matching them is not always what is best for your hair, so use what you feel works for your hair.
Hope that this helps.
