I thought she looked great. She has lost a lot of weight and I really liked her dress, with the flattering shape. No veil, just a tiara keeping it more simple. She looked so happy.
Best of luck to them.

I'd heard the rule about timing Jalima but not the reason for it.
Makes sense now.

Humberbear Interesting re the veils, I didn't know that.

I did hear that there is an old C of E rule that a couple may not get married after 4.30 pm in the winter; this is to ensure that the vicar can see them both properly to know that he is marrying the right couple in the days before electric lights. Or so we were told by a vicar!

I watched the wedding and really enjoyed it. A young couple in love and making their vows to one another.
Let's leave all the speculation and gossip aside and just wish them every happiness together.

Well that’s the press for you Lancslass they clearly don’t like Fergie so have sought to publish the worst possible photos of her. How nasty .

Hear hear, 4allweknow regarding big weddings after living together.
My thoughts about the number of guests was that if they are all such good friends as Prince Andrew implied, they won't have time for a honeymoon because after writing all the thank you letters for the presents received ,Eugenie (it is usually the woman Imo ) will have to start on the Christmas cards.
Like most people I thought the dress was lovely .
I preferred it to either Kate's or Megan's
It was so nice to see a bride in a dress with full length sleeves.
I remember liking the wedding dress when Sarah, the D of Y was married and think that it was particularly nasty of the Press to print the unflattering photographs of her at her daughter's wedding.

Barmeyoldbat Sun 14-Oct-18 10:23:02

The dress was lovely and the bride looked a picture of happiness (as did the groom). It was unfair of the press to publish unflattening photos of Fergie and I think she is treated unfairly by Phillip and after all Charles was no saint.

She doesn't do herself any favours though. DD was standing just behind the press enclosure and said that as Fergie's car slowed down she was jiggling in her seat, gurning, waving, doing 'thumbs ups' and when she got out she dashed across to the crowd and for one embarrassing moment they thought she was going to pose for selfies. I think it must be difficult to get a flattering picture of her under those circumstances.

Nona4ever Sun 14-Oct-18 10:08:47

Yes, the two pics of Sarah, D of Y, which most of the press focussed on were the one where she was puffing out her cheeks as she sat down and a dreadful one where she looked like Kim Woodburn. Not a good look.

I loved it, beautiful bride and handsome groom and the little bridesmaids and page boys were adorable. Nice to have a 'good news' story for a change.

Veils worn by brides in traditional Jewish wedding ceremonies, are really thick and quite unlike those we see in C of E or RC church weddings.

4allweknow Sun 14-Oct-18 09:52:43

Still have a problem with folk no matter what status in life, going to all the bother and expense of a lavish wedding when they have been living together for years. 7 years I think for this couple. All said thought the bride did look good, very understated but beautiful.

sarahellenwhitney Sun 14-Oct-18 09:33:48

Did Eugenie herself state the reason for not wearing a veil ?or could it have been due to the windy weather which was not kind to those who were seen to lose their hats.

lovebeigecardigans1955 Sun 14-Oct-18 09:32:00

I wish the young couple well and hope they find their niche in the modern world.
I'm afraid I tend to look at dresses with the 'would it suit me?' viewpoint. It was glamorous but I would've preferred a slimmer silhouette - the skirt not flaring out so much with the neckline narrower - that's just me.
The bride looked lovely and happy on the day and that's all that matters.

Humbertbear Sun 14-Oct-18 09:08:17

Wedding veils stem from the story in the bible of Jacob being tricked into marrying Leah who was veiled, when he had waited seven years to marry her sister Rachel. A Jewish bride enters the ceremony veiled but this is only after a veiling ceremony where everyone can check the groom is marrying his intended.

Possibly not now , Phillip and queenie have had so much stress over the years, because they have wealth and palaces it is easy to forget they are parents and as parents have had all their families problems in the media, not just in this country.

Mapleleaf Sat 13-Oct-18 22:05:41

Yes, they have, Annie, but perhaps, if they want to, they may re-marry at some time in the future. It's just that the wheels within royal protocol can run rather slowly, and it takes many years for things to become acceptable that have been acceptable within the general population for many years, iyswim. ?

Jalima1108 Sat 13-Oct-18 19:23:29

It doesn't seem that long ago that he was the dashing Naval Officer and the hero of the hour.

BlueBelle Sat 13-Oct-18 19:18:47

Sarah looked good I thought
Andrew obviously doesn’t have a problem with her I think they ve been together for years on the quiet The girls love her so what’s to worry about I hope that Sarah and Andrew are together he wasn’t exactly a saint either I don’t think Sarah has aged better than him although he has kept more hair than most of the others

Anniebach Sat 13-Oct-18 19:11:37

Sarah lives with Andrew in Royal Lodge , Windsor, they have done for several years

Jalima1108 Sat 13-Oct-18 19:09:12

I think she and Prince Andrew still hold a torch for each other, so who knows, maybe at some time in the future they will re-marry?
After the demise of FIL?
It's rather sad if that is the case.

Jalima1108 Sat 13-Oct-18 19:08:10

She looked just fine (Duchess I mean) but could have worn a necklace or pendant.
Just my own thought.

annsixty Sat 13-Oct-18 19:01:22

I too noticed that the worst shot of the Duchess of York that could be found was the one most used.
I am not fond of her but we should have a level playing field.
I have always thought that she and her H do live together on the qt, I may be wrong.
I loved the dress and the bride looked beautiful and very happy.

MawBroon Sat 13-Oct-18 18:25:31

“Eugenics dress”
Conjures up a weird and wonderful image gringrin

PamelaJ1 Sat 13-Oct-18 17:14:45

I haven’t seen much about the wedding, only a few photos in our paper. All of them lovely except the one of Sarah.
Considering the amount of snaps these photographers take I’m sure they could have found a much nicer one.
Shame on them.

Mapleleaf Sat 13-Oct-18 17:08:39

I think it would have been most odd and wrong if Sarah hadn't been allowed to be "back in with the crowd again" on this occasion. She is Mother of the bride, and much loved by her daughter, so had every right to be there in pride of place. ?
I think she and Prince Andrew still hold a torch for each other, so who knows, maybe at some time in the future they will re-marry?
