I thought she looked great. She has lost a lot of weight and I really liked her dress, with the flattering shape. No veil, just a tiara keeping it more simple. She looked so happy.
Best of luck to them.

I think we 'oldies' do more of that than hyounger people though oldbatty.

oldbatty Wed 17-Oct-18 16:49:29

I don't spend a lot at Christmas. We don't run 2 cars even though it was very difficult at one time. I try not to waste food. I recycle.

Jalima1108 Wed 17-Oct-18 16:10:01

I'd like a bit more
but that is just greedy
wink

However, I did go to JL yesterday and came home with

NOTHING!

gillybob Wed 17-Oct-18 15:50:16

I don’t think there are very many of us who take only what we need to live. But having said that, there are those who take a little more, there are those who take a lot more and then there are the rf wink

People shouldn't take more than they need. We are destroying the planet with our greed and spending.

That is very altruistic oldbatty and I hope you live by that mantra.
If we all did that then the world would be a better place, but I would like some examples of those you may know who do that.
Not necessarily personally, of course.

Paddyann, you accepted a commission to photograph one of those you call an inbred !

Anniebach Wed 17-Oct-18 13:17:23

Offensive to call all there inbreds and parasites

Do tell who are the inbreds?

paddyann Wed 17-Oct-18 12:38:27

she could have put the cost towards her security bill and hired private security ...would have let POLICE do the job they're paid for instead of guarding a shower of inbreds and parasites

merlotgran Wed 17-Oct-18 09:52:16

The goodie bags were just souvenirs.

Anniebach Wed 17-Oct-18 08:45:12

When we married in the village church , the gates were tied by children and my husband threw money.

Now gifts are given to guests at the reception, they are placed at each table setting.

PECS Wed 17-Oct-18 08:36:24

as the RF are in a position of some influence they could set examples/ trends etc. that would be beneficial if they chose to. The " need" to have the coach ride and to give out goodie bags to commoners etc perpetuates the huge divide between wealth/ average/ poor. In the past wealthy grooms threw money at the poor villagers etc at the church gates. It feels similar!

oldbatty Tue 16-Oct-18 13:26:11

Well Annie, you've got me there! I think it would have been brave to perhaps use some recycled material......slightly tokenistic but sending out a message.

Anniebach Tue 16-Oct-18 13:21:58

Batty, how does the cost of a wedding gown add to destruction of the planet ?

oldbatty Tue 16-Oct-18 13:19:45

People shouldn't take more than they need. We are destroying the planet with our greed and spending.

Somebody has to say " enough is enough". It would have been great if some of the RF took a stand and said " actually we can manage with less"

I think a quarter of a million on a dress is unfortunate.

Anniebach Tue 16-Oct-18 10:26:59

Exactly Jalima, and we do not know what others do to help those in need. For several years I have fasted on Christmas Day, I have never said to others who choose to eat the full festive feast ‘ you should think of those who are hungry’ .

So I really can’t understand the critcism of the cost of a wedding gown.

gillybob Tue 16-Oct-18 10:16:31

It’s not about that Annie and you know it. It’s about ordinary people struggling to feed their families and having this obscenely rich ( and ever increasing) family rubbing their noses in it ! I’m off this subject now.

Jalima1108 Tue 16-Oct-18 10:15:25

I do think about those who can't afford a car, a holiday and then there are always people worse off still in camps; so many people do what they can to help the worst off.

However, if people stopped spending then so many others would be out of a job - it all has a knock-on effect..

Anniebach Tue 16-Oct-18 10:10:54

Should anyone with two cars think about me who can’t afford one car ? Anyone taking two holidays a year think about those who can’t afford one?

Jalima1108 Tue 16-Oct-18 10:05:36

Perhaps she'll auction it off for charity.

Although I must say I still have mine (cost 33 guineas I think).
shock did I really spend that much?! about £630 in today's money!

Anniebach Tue 16-Oct-18 09:57:32

I really don’t understand this critcism of what people spend.

gillybob Tue 16-Oct-18 09:52:15

It’s an obscene amount of money to spend on a dress . But this is the rf so clearly no thought for what that kind of money means to an ordinary working person . They’re all the same.

PECS Tue 16-Oct-18 09:24:03

That is what makes me cross.. she woul have looked lovely in £2k dress( still a lot of money I know!) but £250k ..even if you earned every penny yourself... it could have done some real good.. dream on PECS dream on!

Jalima1108 Mon 15-Oct-18 19:49:37

Is it a boom year?

Will they be called Baby Boomers?

merlotgran Mon 15-Oct-18 19:48:20

Apparently, Pippa's gorn into the Lindo wing.

Can't keep up with all this. grin

Jalima1108 Mon 15-Oct-18 19:23:08
