size 18 ish maybe? An older lady with shoulder length grey hair wearing, a pleated checked skirt ( mostly greys), knee length boots, a grey top with a checked woolen poncho, a soft grey beret and orange lipstick.

It looked brilliant.

Very nice MawBroon...dressy.
Alas, I can't stand things high up on my neck.

lemongrove Tue 11-Dec-18 16:56:28

Me neither, which is a shame as I used to love polo neck and cowl neck jumpers.

Lisagran Tue 11-Dec-18 17:00:23

Ah yes, Holly W - she’s quite a bit younger though

There was no need to be snippity about a jokey remark I made.
It's good to know that your memory serves you well, however, in future in order not to ruffle your feathers, I'll refrain from making comments on anything you post.
I'm bewildered by your obvious dislike but c'est la vie. (sigh)
Best wishes

I know...but what has her age got to do with me buying a skirt?

oldbatty Tue 11-Dec-18 17:20:27

Gabs, whatevs. snip snip snippy.

lemongrove Tue 11-Dec-18 17:22:54

oldbatty.....over several threads you constantly have a pop at Gabriella it’s starting to look very very odd!

I splashed out and had my colours done a while ago. Enjoyable experience and learnt quite a lot. If only I could find stylish shoes/boots that I can walk a long
way in. Hotter are good but still get uncomfortable after walking a few miles. Afraid I wear jeans a lot as so practical

petra Tue 11-Dec-18 17:32:46

Both the links that Lisa put up are my style.
You should note that in not one of those pictures was there a print.
The only pattern I wear are spots or stripes and they are nearly always navy.
I have the identical tan coat in the Pinterest link and it goes without saying that everyone owns a blazer, white shirt/ trousers/ jeans, don't they?

merlotgran Tue 11-Dec-18 17:36:18

I can't bear things high up on my neck either which is a pity as I used to love polo neck sweaters.

I stated on another thread a few weeks ago that I'm not a fan of scarves for the same reason but I did buy a lovely one in Fat Face this morning to wear on Christmas Day. DD's cottage is quite hippy dippy so it will be all candles and mood lighting. I'll be wearing a black top to show off the silver earrings I hope I'm getting so the red patterned scarf I spotted should brighten up the look.

Petra Yes, in an ideal world but sometimes life overtakes us the the 'ideal' can slip ................hmm

mrshat Tue 11-Dec-18 17:41:03

oops! should read 'and the' not 'the the' blush

Lisagran Tue 11-Dec-18 17:41:59

Sorry, Gabriella - put that without thinking really - I suppose I meant she’s a lot younger than me! But the skirt probably suits different ages? She’s a breath of fresh air for M and S anyway

Jalima1108 Tue 11-Dec-18 18:01:25

What I'd like to know is - how did HW manage to wear a jacket in the Queensland rainforest in the summer?

I would be a melting mess.

GabriellaG54 Tue 11-Dec-18 18:01:33

smile
I bought the longer version which comes to a couple of inches below my knee (I'm 5-6.5 but 5-7 in the morning) and will wear with heels or ankle boots. I'm hopefully aware of being realistic about what suits me and my figure. No rose coloured glasses here. shockhmm

Jalima1108 Tue 11-Dec-18 18:02:29

Sit in the corner with me gillybob - you'll feel better then grin

oldbatty Tue 11-Dec-18 18:05:05

sorry Lemon, enlighten me....with quotes ( done properly) please. Thanks you so much.

Lisagran Tue 11-Dec-18 18:25:23

This skirt Gabriella ? I expect you look good in it. Not my style at all - I have a very casual lifestyle ( and a podgy tummy grin )

oldbatty Tue 11-Dec-18 18:31:19

and it goes without saying that everyone owns a blazer, white shirt/ trousers/ jeans, don't they?

Absolutely.

Lisagran Tue 11-Dec-18 18:39:31

I’ve got jeans, but not the rest!

GabriellaG54 Tue 11-Dec-18 18:45:18

Lisagran
Yes, that's it. I don't have a very flat tummy but I wear tops or shirts tucked tight inside the waistband then lift my arms up which pulls it out a bit.
Real women have a bit of a curved tummy anyway and I'm not about to wear restrictive Spanx or shapewear. I am what I am and I think a happy personality is more attractive than constantly looking in a mirror and fiddling with your clothes. grin

Lisagran Tue 11-Dec-18 18:53:44

Yes you’re right. But skirts generally are not my style. Great we’re all different!

hdh74 Tue 11-Dec-18 19:53:25

I just used my new shower cap from Sainsbury's. It's very stiff and sticks out a mile around my head, totally horizontally. Now I know it's for use in the bathroom, but you know, hospital stays and stuff or just plain shock when I saw myself in the mirror - a cross between Lucille Ball and a short fat toadstool sprang to mind.

Paddington1914 Tue 11-Dec-18 20:16:16

Great is all I can say, go for it, and I am a size 18 - on a good day!
