Thinning hair

I put rather a detailed post in earlier about my difficulties with thinning breaking hair and was hoping for some replies and I’ve found the thread “has been deleted for breaking forum guidelines”! What happened, does anyone know?

I might be wrong, Luckylegs, but one of the early replies I saw looked like a prelude to a link to some miracle cure. I’d guess the poster went on to break the rules about advertising. I don’t see why the whole thread would be taken down though.

My late MIL had cancer so we found a really good hairdresser who specialised in wigs and wig cutting and styling.
She wore her wigs after her hair grown back as they were so natural and looked fabulous.

I think wigs might be the answer. My friend often wears one for the same reason.

I suppose you could ask your GP or hairdresser for their opinions but perhaps you've already done that.

I’m taking oral chemo for a blood cancer which, combined with low thyroid, menopause, etc means that my hair has noticeably thinned, breaking off and won’t hold a colour any more. I used to have exceptionally thick hair so it’s hitting me hard. My hairdresser has made me cry twice in a busy salon by exclaiming about the state of my hair. He gave me a set of Nioxin products plus advice about avoiding much heat, cut it in a blunt cut and avoiding different colours, I feel very vain but it is so upsetting. It seems to have worsened in the last six months since I had to take an extra tablet a week so, following a distressed phone call, my oncology nurse will allow me to drop that tablet for one month to see if it improves. After a few weeks of the products there seems to be a bit of an improvement but I might be kidding myself!

It's not vain. I am sorry you are going through this. I have lost all my hair (as I have gone on about on GN many times). I am grateful that I am not I'll of course but to be perfectly honest it's ruined my life. Apologies if that sounds pathetic but it's the truth. I hope you see some improvement Luckylegs

I started a thread about caffeine shampoos a while back but cant find it now.

I think they have made a difference to mine. It might not work in your curcumstances but worth a try

Thanks for your replies and sympathies - my mum used to say, a little sympathy goes a long way!
