I’m taking oral chemo for a blood cancer which, combined with low thyroid, menopause, etc means that my hair has noticeably thinned, breaking off and won’t hold a colour any more. I used to have exceptionally thick hair so it’s hitting me hard. My hairdresser has made me cry twice in a busy salon by exclaiming about the state of my hair. He gave me a set of Nioxin products plus advice about avoiding much heat, cut it in a blunt cut and avoiding different colours, I feel very vain but it is so upsetting. It seems to have worsened in the last six months since I had to take an extra tablet a week so, following a distressed phone call, my oncology nurse will allow me to drop that tablet for one month to see if it improves. After a few weeks of the products there seems to be a bit of an improvement but I might be kidding myself!
