Ruth Langsford (from ITV’s “This Morning” ) has hair extensions for thickening (not lengthening) her hair, and posts about it on her Facebook page. Her hair looks great and the extensions are permenant ( with maintenance) and undetectable.

I hope you can read it,thought it would magnify more

grandma60 i have been reading about hair loss, and apparently the bimatoprost used in these eyedrops is being tested for use in hair loss`

Hello Blondenana I am prescribed Ganfort as
well. It is in little individual bottles as it is preservative free. The ordinary bottle made my blepharitis worse.
I did comment to my consultant that I felt I wasted quite a lot but he said the extra was put in them because many older people have shaky hands and would waste some anyway.
I do wipe around my eyes with a facial wipe after using the drops but that hasn't prevented the hair growth.
Yes they have changed the colour of my eyes slightly. They used to be hazel but now they are more of a muddy brown. smile
I would like to know if it is safe to use on the scalp and I have been tempted but I think they are quite a strong drug (prostaglandin and beta blocker although in small quantity)

blondenana Thu 23-May-19 16:51:35

By the way,i did put a tiny drop on my eyebrows which are almost non existant,

blondenana Thu 23-May-19 16:49:09

Grndma60 mine is just one bottle, i didn;t know they made it in individual ones, if i had the small ones i wouldn;t throw any away, what a waste though
I will be sure to wipe any residue away if it drips onto my skin, now you have told me about the hair around your eyes
Has it affected your iris colour as that is one of the side effects apparently?

Hi cloverson sorry to hear your hair is getting you down. Could you have it cut very short, like Judy Dench or Jamie lee Curtis perhaps? If you use a permanent colour perhaps go to a temporary one, this could help with the health of the hair shaft and chemical build up. Just a thought.

My own hair is grey, well white actually, and I did dye it for years, as I went grey in my teens. I stopped dying it four years ago, and the condition is much better now I must say. I did discover that when I stopped colouring it I had a dark brown band of coloured hair from my temples going over my ears round the back of my nape and the same on the other side. I asked my hair dresser to enhance this natural effect so now my sides and back are undercut and shaved on a number two, and the rest the white coloured hair, is in a bowl cut. I have been stopped in the past and asked who colours my hair, or is it natural. You never know what your real colour is till you stop!

Good luck with finding a hairdresser who has experience with this hair problem.

Blondenana Yes my drops are Ganfort. I used to use. They are a combination of Bimatoprost and Timol so the think any effects would be similar. They have made my lashes grow but unfortunately I also get fine dark hairs around the eyes which I get waxed off.
Let me know if you try using it on your head. I'm not sure if it would mean having too much in the bloodstream though. xx

Blondenana I am prescribed those type of eye drops as well. Mine are in little individual bottles as they are preservative free. I have to throw almost half the contents away each night. Many a time I have been tempted to put it on my thinning scalp smile

I haven’t been to the hairdressers for years, originally to save money but now out of sheer embarrassment as I know I’ll be laughed at for my amateur cutting efforts. My hair is short, very fine and going grey and I hate it. I colour it myself but never seem to get rid of all the grey. My dear old Mum’s hair went from fine to very thin and sparse and I’m terrified of going the same way. I think I’d better start researching wigs!

Hi Colversion, a friend of mine has a very similar problem, her's is due to medical problem and she has a small hairpiece which is attached on to her crown and blended in with her own hair. She washes and dries it as normal. I think she has to go every six weeks or so to have it adjusted/tightened. I will try and find a link as I know there are salons who specialise in it throughout the UK

Meant to say Dr said there was some slight inflammation, said to see another Dr in the practice who is more into skin conditions,so onwards and upwards

I had thinning hair, and had it dyed, with highlights and lowlights, for years. On a whim, on my 66th birthday, I had all that bleached out, and I now have very short, thick white and grey hair, that lots of people have complimented me on. The bonus is that trips to the hairdresser are cheaper, and take less than half an hour. I was always a bit concerned about all those chemicals I used to have on my hair.

blondenana Tue 21-May-19 09:33:07

I was given some different eye drops yesterday to relieve pressure behind my eyes, but had to smile when i read in the side effects, "may make lashes grow, but dont get any on skin as hair may grow"maybe i should put it on my head, lol grin

KatyK Sun 19-May-19 13:10:51

Oh I see. Thank you blondenana

blondenana Sun 19-May-19 11:39:17

Sorry forgot to say it clips onto your own hair but as explained to me unless you have enough at the front to go over the clip on bit it wont work
To see my hair from the front it looks quite thick

blondenana Sun 19-May-19 11:36:14

A topper is a hair piece that just covers the crown are and a few inches below, from what i was shown, so not as long or as full as a wig

Re hair in brushes or combs. My hair didn't fall out - no hair in brushes, combs or plugholes. It just stopped coming through my scalp. People don't believe me but it's true. It was a mystery. There is only one hairdresser (a TV one) who I have ever heard explain this. He said the follicles get clogged and the hair can't get through. It can be corrected with certain oils and takes a long time. I can't remember what the oils were. I couldn't wait to see if that worked for me. What is a topper please?

blondenana Sat 18-May-19 22:14:13

I asked at a hair extension place yesterday about a topper, but the lady said because the hair would need to be put on over the crown it would leave a ridge and any hair at the front would need to cover it, and it would look just like what it is, a topper, i am particularly happy with that explanation as i know people do wer toppers, i think i need to try somewhere else
I have lost hair at the crown and 2 patches just below, but more to the sides than in the middle, so i can sympathise with you op,it is very depressing, ,as it seemed to happen very suddenly for me, but no sign of much in brushes and combs or in plugholes, a mystery

Huge sympathy Framilode I started to notice thinning at about 50 and was so shocked but you were sooo young! I have started to wear hats, coats with hoods but now summer is coming and hats draw unwanted attention as they really do not suit my face.

I hate going out and when possible plan my days around washing my hair and going out to do as much as possible while it is freshly washed.

Very interesting katyK

Framilode Sat 18-May-19 18:33:21

I started losing my hair at 17. It has thinned gradually over my life and i probably only have 20% now of what I started with. Frankly, it has blighted my life. When I meet someone with lovely bouncy, thick hair I feel the most enormous envy. It also dominates my life in that the weather conditions, wind, having to wash it every day is something I have to factor in. My appearance matters to me and a 'good' hair day makes all the difference to my mood. I sympathise completely.
