How long have you had it?

I too have a ‘funeral’ coat that I’ve had for probably 20+ yrs it’s actually a 3/4 length jacket but warm and comfortable in fact I can’t remember ever having it cleaned ??

I have an Aran jumper that my mum knitted for me as a teenager. I’ve had it nearly 50 years and it still washes brilliantly. She used some wool called “flair” which never seems to pill. It still has a name tape sewn in with my maiden name on it. And I was married in 1977.
My DS’s then GF admired it a few years ago and wanted to know where I’d bought it.

Dressing gowns are a 'thing's aren't they. DH bought we a super duper one for Christmas but I feel it wears me rather than the other way round. I've told him I'm saving it for best!!!

I've got a green and white striped Joules one that is 'just right'!

I have a black leather jacket I bought 25 years ago from Marks and Spencer when I came into a bit of money. I was with a friend when I bought it, and had originally intended to buy a sensible raincoat. She was very disapproving - she said “well, you won’t want to wear it when you’re 50, will you?” (I was 45.) I’ll be seventy next month(?!) and I still wear it.

I’m another one with an old dressing gown, M &S about 2003, blue velour towelling. It’s just about the right level of comfy.

I've just remembered that I still have a lovely black broderie anglais (excuse spelling) dress with thin straps and lacing up the front that I bought in 1979. It's so lovely that I couldn't part with it. If I put it on now, I'd look like an over stuffed cushion!

Those of you with beloved dressing gowns - don't buy a new one, it will make you miserable!

I have a smart wool jacket from Laura Ashley that was purchased well before my 23yo daughter was born.

We also have 'the family jumper'. It's a navy blue crew neck cotton jumper from M&S that I bought for school for my son when he was in S5/6. He'll now 43yo! He passed it down to his younger brother and then my Dh wore it for a bit.

It got shoved into a drawer for a while until my oldest daughter found it and resurrected it and wore it for school although by now the cuffs were frayed and it was faded. Youngest child hasn't worn it as she is small and it would swamp her but I'm now thinking I should seek it out and give it to my cats to sleep on.

I bought a lovely grey fleecy dressing gown from M&S the same year that Tony Blair became PM which is still going strong.

Coincidently I came across a top at the bottom of a drawer recently that I had forgotten about and on the top of that chest of drawers is a photo of me wearing it holding my 6 mth old GS. I have a couple of housework T-Shirts of similar age.
He will be 10 in May.

I have a large cardigan which is at least 20 years old - it's like a child's comforter - whenever I am feeling a bit down I put it on and it makes me feel better

I was just reading another thread which totally floored me.....the number of shoes and handbags some ladies have !!!!!!!!!!

I have three short-sleeved white blouses which I bought in M&S over twenty years ago. They dry in no time after a wash, never need ironing, and go under Vneck or round neck jumpers.

I used to wear them for work every day so they must have been washed several hundred times each - but they just won't wear out. I still wear them a couple of times each week now I am retired.

I've had the same dressing gown for about 20 years. It still looks fine.

I've had the same bath robe for 14+ years and won't part from it. It's ratty, faded and looking very much the worse for wear now but it's the best one I've ever had. I've been bought a couple of new ones, for various birthdays etc, but I always go back to my old favourite.
