Please don't tell me to go on a diet ( I am) or to buy clothes from Primark ( they look hideous)

Budget is small, bottom is large as are basookas. What to do?

lemongrove Tue 23-Apr-19 14:47:28

Blinko haha, yes, you have a point ( in fact you have two!)
grin
trisher don’t worry about that linen dress, I tried it on and it hung badly and felt coarse to the touch, also it was too big for it’s size. That’s M&S for you these days. The sizing is all over the place as is the quality.

Callistemon Tue 23-Apr-19 14:19:43

One size? From 8 to 20??

Callistemon Tue 23-Apr-19 14:18:56

They do cover the batwings upper arms too, by the look of the photo!

Lily65 Tue 23-Apr-19 13:47:39

I think Kit and kaboodle in moderation, not the big 3 tiered pom pom thing.

Monsoon used to be quite special but are not great now.

trisher Tue 23-Apr-19 13:47:24

Thanks Alexa I might order one.
Kim19 try using one of the body lotions that build up to a tan. They come in different shades probably best to use the lightest to begin with. Boots do a No 7 one.

Gonegirl Tue 23-Apr-19 13:42:34

Oh! That sounds just like me these days midgey.

Kim19 Tue 23-Apr-19 13:38:01

Thanks DM. I'm just about to peruse TW. Appreciated.

Gonegirl....weebles were toys from the seventies, the advert said ‘Weebles wobble but they don’t fall down’! Think short with a large round base!

Sara65 Tue 23-Apr-19 13:33:21

Oh, good for you! Hope it fits, let us know!

Gonegirl Tue 23-Apr-19 13:31:21

In dusky pink. (sorry for the clumsy link)

grin

I've sent for a top!!! shock

Sara65 Tue 23-Apr-19 13:29:07

Yes, gone girl, I had a quick look, they are VERY generous!

Gonegirl Tue 23-Apr-19 13:24:20

Kit and Kaboodal dresses do look rather as if you've got something really awful to cover up.

Sara65 Tue 23-Apr-19 13:17:42

Adini is worth a look, not the best quality, but ok for summer, I used to adore monsoon, but they seem to have lost their way a bit, either that, or I’m getting too old for it!!!

knspol Tue 23-Apr-19 13:14:26

One of the most attractive women I know is large! She wears loose longish tops, loose, wide trousers and quite a lot of big heavy necklaces and bracelets. She always looks good.

Alexa Tue 23-Apr-19 13:08:00

Trisher, the M and S teeshirt dresses feel like strong and soft cotton. I haven't worn or washed one yet so I cannot say more. I have not found that M and S cotton jersey looses its shape so I expect the teeshirt dresses will be okay.

They are the sort of garment I could sleep in and then let the electricity man read the meter without looking disreputable.

Love 'harvest festival' undies...

DoraMarr Tue 23-Apr-19 12:57:05

Kim I wear midi- length dresses, then most of my legs is covered. I also use a leg cream made by This Works, as it doesn’t smell all biscuity like most fake tans. I don’t think threequarter leg trousers are the way to go, unless one is slim. They just make one look square, and draw attention to the ankles. Full length is best, or just ankle length, and slim.

Blinko Tue 23-Apr-19 12:55:13

You call a size 14 curvy Blinko ?

It is when you're 34GG up top, Lemon grin

notgoneyet Tue 23-Apr-19 12:36:25

Why not try one of the online catalogues - lovely to try on clothes in the privacy of your own home, and easy to return what you don't want.

I use Fashion World and Very, both of whom stock plus sizes.

marionk Tue 23-Apr-19 12:17:39

Shop in charity shops - lots of bargains to be found in them!

PamGeo Tue 23-Apr-19 12:16:19

Harvest festival undies lol ... shaving your legs and painting your nails is a good start. I've got my tinted moisturiser to dampen the glare from my white legs until the sun has an effect, which should be September if we have another glorious summer. Next have some lovely linen dress you could try

Lily65 Tue 23-Apr-19 12:13:46

I am not obsessed with this, honest but yes " model wears a size 8 " is annoying!

Kit and kaboodle models look like normal people. Some of them may even have had children?

Kim19 Tue 23-Apr-19 12:05:36

Thank you Lily. I'll do that very thing.
