Sleeveless dresses

Short skirts, apart from not being appropriate at my age, my long slim legs are now decorated with veins! sad

Turning it round - I love never having to wear stockings, underwear with no stretch, jeans (I'm a weirdo about jeans), short skirts, platform soles, and anything just because of fashion/social pressure. Always felt I was 'in costume' at work (secretary - good at the job but not the idiot image).

lol...snap Ollie

olliebeak Thu 13-Jun-19 16:11:42

I'd love to be able to wear my very short mini-skirts again grin.

I really miss being able to wear mini skirts. I never appreciated my nice slim legs when I had them!

For those who like to cover their arms, I get this type of cool top. I wore it over a long dress recently at a family do, when it was a very hot day, and I felt cool and looked OK. Better than exposing my very ugly arms to all. I don't mind at home or locally! I also have similar linen shirts but they can be too hot, and they crease.

direct.asda.com/george/women/swimwear/white-shirt-dress-cover-up/GEM664400,default,pd.html?cgid=D1M1G20C15 It is only £8 with 20% off today, they do other colours too.

Flossieturner Agree wholeheartedly! MyWedding dress (mentioned above) was kind-of Mary Quant-ish.

Tillybelle Thu 13-Jun-19 15:58:14

I'm honestly not being rude olive2709 but do you mind if I ask how you managed to wear thongs? I tried them and managed for less than half an hour!

Also flip-flops! My middle daughter and I cannot wear these! I only have to think of them and blisters start appearing between my toes!

Flossieturner Thu 13-Jun-19 15:54:54

I’ve just been to the Mary Quant at the V&A. I really miss those Sixties fashions. I thought it was the best time to be young.

Tillybelle Thu 13-Jun-19 15:53:43

I don't miss anything in particular. I have tended to keep clothes a long time as I'm roughly the same shape and size. I still wear trousers/jeans and tops and prefer long sleeved tops summer and winter as I burn in Summer. I married in low heels or I would have looked taller than my husband. High heels do look better but there are lovely low-heeled shoes too.

About 15 years ago I discovered some tee-shirt nightdresses that look like day clothes and I wear these a lot around the house! Very comfortable, easy to wash and hardly need ironing!

I wish I could find the pattern from which I made my Wedding dress as I would like a shorter one like it! It was not unlike Megan's but less full in the skirt.

HannahLoisLuke Thu 13-Jun-19 15:45:06

Mini skirts, long floaty hippy dresses, huge flares, headbands and yes me too, sleeveless tops.
Just miss my younger body, and face ?

Tillybelle Thu 13-Jun-19 15:39:30

Wish I could manage without glasses.

Dayone Thu 13-Jun-19 15:38:14

maddyone Thu 13-Jun-19 14:44:47

A bikini, I only wear one piece swimsuits now.

annemarg Thu 13-Jun-19 14:38:39

Atqui - Just what I was going to say! I really like jumpsuits but getting to the loo on time could be a problem now, so I can't risk it!

olive2709 Thu 13-Jun-19 14:35:35

I'm still laughing at the Burka , Bagatelle

Pat1949 Thu 13-Jun-19 14:07:24

Shoes with heels, no, not particularly high heels, just a bit of a heel. Because of a foot problem my shoes are at flat.

libra10 Thu 13-Jun-19 13:38:08

I don't miss wearing high-heels, much prefer my Sketchers and Flyflots!

aonk Thu 13-Jun-19 13:35:29

I do agree about the high heels! The right shoes can make an outfit. However I’ve discovered the combination of midi skirts or dresses with trainers or plimsolls. A lot of my daughters friends do this and they look great.

Pollyanna2 Thu 13-Jun-19 13:25:30

Just been to family wedding and now realise even my low heels are too painful to wear for several hours. Also upper arms are now strangely muscular - people were commenting on this so a couple of years ago I decided they would henceforth be covered! My aim is to feel comfortable in whatever I'm wearing - psychologically as well as physically...so I can concentrate on the more important things in my life...

gillyknits Thu 13-Jun-19 12:56:43

Skirts, shorter sleeves and high heels. Covered in bruises on my arms and legs and arthritis in my big toes. Like a previous contributor , I think I’ll have to resort to burka and wellingtons or a bubble wrap suit! ???

Margaux Thu 13-Jun-19 12:55:43

Heels Heels Heels

Particularly if it's a special occasion, like a wedding.

How can you look really smart without high heels if you're 5'3 and with short legs? Aaaah - they make all the difference.
