Sleeveless dresses

suziewoozie Wed 12-Jun-19 16:42:34

Thanks crystal

Dora which particular one did you mean? Also I haven’t bought FC before - how do their sizes compare to eg M and S. Thanks

M0nica Wed 12-Jun-19 16:32:34

Nothing - yet

I’ve got a white and a navy shirt in this style- they are very good.

I was wondering earlier if I would look silly in jeans with rips in...daughter just tried some on and she looks so cool and trendy but I think I might just look a bit silly.

“Like this” - excuse typo

A linen shirt dress lol ethics might suit or a linen shirt shirt over a sleeveless midi dress is cool.

I still go for the hippy look, I can't resist a bit of crushed velvet.
Things I would never wear in public - skirt or dress above the knee, shorts unless on a beach.

I miss wearing sandals as I have to have an orthotic in one shoe and sandals won't hold it in place. I have had to wear ballet flats instead.

High heels, short skirts, sleeveless dresses and just wondering if I dare expose my odd feet this summer, although if the weather doesn't change soon I can put that off until next year.

Sleeveless dresses and tops
High heeled shoes

A nice flattering bra.

I get a lot of pain underneath my right boob, and I have to wear sports bras, which are comfy but just squash ones boobs flat to be honest.

Not a particularly good look.

My upper arms suddenly went wrinkley. I was ill and lost some weight so that probably didn't help. It was good to have a flat stomach for a while but I am better than I was and have put some weight back on - to my stomach of course!

I am no longer capable of wearing high heels.

suziewoozie Wed 12-Jun-19 15:54:38

Thanks Buffy - will start looking. Like the idea especially of grandad style

KatyK Wed 12-Jun-19 15:46:15

High heels, short skirts, hot pants (my shape was made for them). When I was young obviously.

Re body image and self esteem, I'm thinking of getting a burka and wellingtons. I have nice eyes.

BlueBelle Wed 12-Jun-19 15:22:28

Hi heels, bikini and short shorts

Buffybee Wed 12-Jun-19 15:20:13

Hi susie, no recommendations really but I look out for thin cotton white shirts all the time.
I have many, in different styles, with a shirt collar or collarless Grandad styles, also different lengths from long to wear with trousers/crops, to just below waist length to wear with sleeveless dresses or vest top and Summer skirt.
I find it much cooler than a cardigan especially abroad, it looks fresh and stylish as well.

Gonegirl Wed 12-Jun-19 13:45:13

I missed out 'in high heels'

Gonegirl Wed 12-Jun-19 13:44:38

I used to run home in my lunch hour, to let the (poorly) cat out. A good mile and a half. Many, many years ago. Can't even run now, leave alone in high heels.

shysal Wed 12-Jun-19 13:41:47

Lycra leggings with thong leotards (think Jane Fonda)!blush

Stilettos. (Now have bunions and RA).

SalsaQueen Wed 12-Jun-19 13:39:33

high-heeled shoes. Up until I was about 45 (15 years ago) I wore 3, 4 and 5inch heels every day. I drove in them, tottered about all day in them....and then got Plantar Fasciitis, which was incredibly painful. I can manage a 2 inch heel now, or wedges, but it's not the same.

DoraMarr Wed 12-Jun-19 13:37:53

I think the rule is only one bare area at a time, so shortish dress/sleeves, longish dress/bare arms. And no cleavage. I still bare my arms, and they are good for a 70 year old. Don’t like cropped trousers, I think they are very unflattering, but I do like ankle length ones in a good cut-Whistles and Toast are my go-to brands. I don’t think there are many things you can’t wear as you get older, it all depends how you style them. There’s a good book- and blog- by Ari Seth Cohen called “advanced style”, which shows (mostly American) women and a few men who obviously delight in clothes and wear them with panache.

grannyticktock Wed 12-Jun-19 13:33:59

I miss wearing white, which does nothing for me now. It shows up the off-white colour of my hair - and my teeth!

suziewoozie Wed 12-Jun-19 13:20:56

Thin white cotton shirt - now I like that idea. Any recommendations Buffy?

Buffybee Wed 12-Jun-19 13:01:11

Same here! Sleeveless tops and dresses because I hate to show my upper arms!
Don't know what happened but one Summer they were fine and the next saggy.
I also wear thin cardigans over sleeveless or some thin white cotton shirts can look ok.
Luckily, legs still ok, so can wear crop trousers.
