I haven't got the shape for anything much.
I don't wear anything figure hugging.

White leggings and shorts. I don't have the shape or legs for either.

I avoid anything that shows flesh .

I’m 70, and I don’t think I want to wear Crimpelene trousers with an elasticated waist.

I wear above the knee skirts too paddyann. For me, its a case of nice legs shame about the face. wink

I'll be joining grannygravy13 in leaving GN ,I wear most things mentioned.Above the knee skirts .leather ,I just bought a maxi dress with a ruffle on the neckline and its lovely on .Age really shouldn't influence what you wear .If you dont think you look good in it then thats fine ,but not because you're over 40 or 50 or 70 .
What other people think of what you wear is their problem not yours .

These days I wouldn't wear a mini-skirt (when I was a teenager I wore dresses so short I couldn't take a deep breath!), I love heels but these days find them uncomfortable so only wear them occasionally. There is an older lady (I'm talking 70s) who visits the same shopping centre and wears very short dresses and quite frankly it is not a good look on her.

Miniskirts (which I used to love), because I've got fat knees with big scars now. Not a pretty sight.

gillybob my nails have always split, about eleven years ago at the beginning of the school 6 weeks holidays I went and had tips and acrylic nails, I hated them!!!!

I let the tips grow out, and now I have a layer of gel than a gel colour on top of my own nails, they are not "long" just over the top of my finger if you get what I mean.

I have mucked out stables, garden, changed to many nappies to think about and never had a problem.

My nails are dreadful: ridged, peeling, splitting, battered and abused! I'm used to them that way but I wish they were healthier and stronger.

I have had a couple of pedicures in the past and was surprised and delighted how much better my feet looked afterwards. And that was after decades of avoiding nail bars /salons like the plague. Might treat myself for my birthday as I get very rough hard skin which is difficult to remove.

Never say never, I have had to eat so much humble pie after saying 'never' and then being faced with the one and only occasion where I would do/wear/buy just such an item that I avoid ever saying the word.

Rowantree Thu 08-Aug-19 11:10:43

Daisymae I have to agree - I don't like flounces or frills of any kind. I look like an ageing, plump little Victorian doll in them. Not keen on fussy detailing on clothes. But yes, the young and willowy retro-stylers would look great.

Also harem pants which make me look like a Teletubby. I envy those who can wear them with panache!

gillybob Thu 08-Aug-19 11:08:38

Oh I would love to try false nails GrannyGravy as mine are always horrible and flea bitten . I wouldn’t go fir those talons you see on some people just nice neat “normal” length ones as I would hate to scratch the baby .

Rowantree Thu 08-Aug-19 11:07:22

GrannyGravy good for you - horses for courses! Whatever makes you feel good. I just can't. And won't. But I know some people rock those things!

GrannyGravy13 Thu 08-Aug-19 11:03:50

Well I best resign from GN.......I have had gel nails for eleven years, wear thongs under some items of clothing, wear heels when going out in the evening and still wear a bikini on holidays and in my garden.

Daisymae Thu 08-Aug-19 11:03:41

Flounces! Saw an article earlier this year ' how to look good in flounces' apparently they are making a comeback, I think that unless you are 17 and it's 1971 you are not going to look great!

Rowantree Thu 08-Aug-19 10:53:06

I forgot the heels! Can't and won't wear heels. It's flats for me - even though my legs are like pork sausages.

gillybob Thu 08-Aug-19 10:44:33

Anything low cut that shows cleavage, short shorts, bum splitting thongs, a bikini .

I wish I could walk in heels but I can trip over a feather so sadly they’re a no, no for me .

annodomini Thu 08-Aug-19 10:43:32

High platforms. I would break my ankle and most likely my neck!

RosieLeah Thu 08-Aug-19 10:39:41

...all of the above..plus very high heels...they distort your legs...anything that reveals cleavage..long nails. I can't imagine how people manage with long nails. How do they apply face cream....clean themselves after using the toilet....avoid scratching loved ones faces?

paddyann Thu 08-Aug-19 10:36:48

flat shoes, what my daughter calls granny shoes.I've been wearing heels since I was 12 and got my first kitten heels .i've walked prams for miles in high heels worked all day in them and even once did a sponsored walk in them .

New GD expected late this month I'll be pushing her pram in heels too

Rowantree Thu 08-Aug-19 10:19:58

.....a miniskirt, pair of shorts, thong, false nails...
Short items of clothing on my body would freak everyone out.
Thongs make me cringe with imagined discomfort and false nails are pointless on a muckworm like me who enjoys getting her hands grubby.

Anyone else?
