.....a miniskirt, pair of shorts, thong, false nails...
Short items of clothing on my body would freak everyone out.
Thongs make me cringe with imagined discomfort and false nails are pointless on a muckworm like me who enjoys getting her hands grubby.
Anyone else?

you should wear what suits your shape
I don't think they use barrels as dressmakers dummies Grandma2213
I have always had a rather unconventional taste in clothing and when younger, quite liked the shocked and disapproving looks on the faces of people who were the age I am now.
I wear what I like: colourful, pretty or appropriate for the occasion.
I wear long rainbow socks but wouldn't go to a funeral in them.
It's still black as a mark of respect and in my elders' group that's the acceptable thing for funerals.
I never wear tights because even in winter they are far too hot; likewise trousers - although I do have both, sitting atop my wardrobe where they've been hibernating for 20+ years.
The idea of wearing a cheese-cutter aka thong, makes me shudder - yuk.
Even as a teenager I never liked high heels. Having once been persuaded to try a friend's when I was 19, I took agin them from that moment.
I wouldn't wear fleecy pj's, or any pyjamas, ever.
It's a long, silky nightgown for me, in all seasons and if they try to dress me in something dowdy when I'm dead, I'll sit up and clock 'em one.
Anything with an elasticated waist. It just spells the beginning of the end to me. I like heels, showing a bit of cleavage and nice nails (not too long) I just cannot stand white or cream handbags and anything beige.
I don't think what you wear should relate to your age but you should wear what suits your shape.
Having said that I do think high heels with leggings look weird.
When did nails become so important? I rarely wear even a clear nail varnish but if I do I can actually feel the weight of it on my nails. I don't think I could ever bear gels or strange colours, patterns or glitter. How can anyone function with those incredibly long hooked talons?
I feel pretty much the same about those so obviously false eyelashes. How uncomfortable must they be!
Gam5 Well said! I try with charity shops and I know some people get amazing bargains, but I rarely find anything that fits me. I do keep looking though and have found some interesting scarves and necklaces instead.
I'm trying to buy fewer new clothes and more second-hand (or 'preloved' if you prefer that!) - often from eBay where I have made several expensive mistakes but found many excellent bargains too. Not as good as charity shops though!
A shroud.
I agree with daisymae about flounces!!! Also the thong knickers - ouch!
Won't wear any of the 'cold shoulder' style tops and dresses I wish this particular style fad would disappear!
mini skirts look great with leggings and flat shoes or boots. Maybe it's a question of what you personally look and feel good wearing rather than putting it in an age framework. I love having time to experiment with different looks. I pick up some fun quality clothes from charity shops and if my purchases don't work out, I've made a charitable donation!
I will never wear anything beige or pink , anything with an elasticated waist , slippers .
I have a black cold shoulder top (that covers my bum) and I wear it with either black or white 3/4 leggings. I am happy to say that I feel good wearing it! .......and that's the main thing really
- "cold shoulder" T-shirt - how rubbish are they?
- high heels
- stockings (unless blue....
)
- posh dresses
- make-up
- clutching a posh handbag
Lord, I am so boring!
Those dreadful painted eyebrows, I think that even on young people they look awful. However, they seem to be popular so, who am I to judge! Just would not have them myself, particularly as I have fair skin
Gold jewellery. Apron.
Sunshine57 maybe they use one of those disability aids designed for older or disabled people to use when they cant reach. Available on Amazon
Those beige or cream lace up casual shoes worn by so many 'older' ladies on coach trips! I have had to give in to flatter shoes most of the time, but will NEVER wear those!
Knee length skirts or dresses. Not with my fat legs!
Sleeveless tops. Must have the bingo wings covered
Just wondering how people with long false nails manage in the bathroom?
When I was given soft contact lenses for the first time, many years ago, I froze at the thought of “pinching” them out. The optician called up a receptionist with two inch talons to do it for me. I got those lenses out in two seconds flat.
My rule of thumb is that however good it may look on others, I won’t wear anything that makes me look as if I’ve escaped from a home. Floral hippy skirts are one example.
Goodness, you are describing me.
I wouldn’t be seen dead in high heels or with long nails. Both restrict physically in some way, and that seems a strange attitude to life. I wouldn't have worn them when I was young, either.
Now, I would add sleeveless dresses or even very short sleeves. My upper arms aren’t fat, but they’re flabby. I last wore shorts at school, and don’t regard them as clothes for
grown ups, though I admit my 68-year-old sister in law looks quite good in them. She has exceptionally nice legs. My legs are OK but perhaps a bit too thin.
Red nail varnish. Long loose hair (I’m pushing 80). Eye make-
up. I have naturally black eyelashes and that’s good enough for me. T- shirts. Short skirts. Dyed hair, particularly not fake blonde.
Purpledaffodil, I hope we end it here and spare you all the sight. It’s just awful. Groups of teens girls looking like they just rolled out of bed.
I once had one false nail put on my thumb as I had broken my own nail and it didn’t match my other nails. I tried to grab hold of a slippery leg of frozen lamb in Sainsbury’s sand my hand slipped and my thumb nail pinged off into the depths of the freezer. Must have been a nice surprise for whoever had to re-stock the freezer!
I love a good flaunt, Alexa!
Rowantree: try nail oil every other night and cuticle cream every other night. I had horrible problems with my nails until I started doing this on the recommendation of a beautician and now my nails are much stronger and grow really fast.
GoodMama your teenage girl fashions sound ... interesting ?Haven’t noticed it in SE England yet, but we do tend to follow the US, so doubtless it will happen here.
