Having received the latest Poetry catalogue today and spent a goodly amount of time ticking all the items I like...?? see that Italian wool and a Japanese wool and linen mixwe feature heavily, as does boiled wool and corduroy.
I aim to leave it for OH to see. He should be pleased that Primark doesn't do catalogues. ??
Yes...I'm a shopaholic. I really must put unwanted items on eBay but it's such a bind to describe and photograph items from all angles.
Still, I'll have no room in the wardrobes for any more clobber if I don't get rid of some tgat I no longer wear.
I am loving the colours, thick creams, natural, taupe deep blues and fern green.
I note that Poetry does PayPal which is useful. 4 months before you have to pay anything and my limit is £5k. Oh joy! ?

I understand now M0nica thanks for explaining.

NanKate, I wasn't saying the clothes were old-fashioned, I do not think they are, but the presentation on their website does them a diservice. They are all photographed on models, none of which is much over 30 max, with accessories (flesh coloured tights and nice neat black court shoes) that one rarely sees on anyone under 70.

I like the look of the David Nieper clothes and yes they may be old fashioned, or as I prefer to call them Classic, but with a bit of my unusual jewellery I will be pleased with the end result. One of their tops is zooming it’s way to me now.

M0nica Mon 09-Sept-19 15:52:44

David Nieper is aiming at the older demographic. Why don't they us obviously elderly grey/white haired models. There are enough of them about and they can be seen in most fashion articles wherever you look.

Given their price range. Their cloths should be displayed on 'Mrs Exeter' style models (she used to feature in Vogue, tall, elegant, slim), but now and again in thick tights or clumpy/shoes boots, would make the same clothes look a lot more stylish and I suspect reflect their quality and justify the high prices.

GinnyHendricks Mon 09-Sept-19 14:18:01

I just looked at David Nieper and yes it is very conservative, the models look way below the target market I think. I guess there’s a demand for this kind of stuff, comfortable, neat, modest.

M0nica Sun 08-Sept-19 16:57:17

I look at the David Nieper site now and again, but find their clothes look desperately age appropriate.

I think it is something to do with the way they are presented. The clothes are displayed in such a conservative way. All the models look so demure with flesh coloured tights and nice safe court shoes which looks odd considering how young the models are. The result is that the clothes look so conservative and safe. Their trousers in particular look very smart, but I do not need any new trousers this winter.

I think they should accessorise, at least some of their clothes in a more edgy style with models clearly wearing thick tights and heavier boots, or chunkier shoes.

They are also not up to the minute with their colours. This year the shops are full of browns and autumn colours, which are colours that best suit me. Click on 'brown' or 'orange' and the clothes that come up, often aren't the colour you asked for or the colour is one slight part of a garment where other colours are dominant. And so many of their clothes are predominantly blue, a colour I really cannot wear.

I have just ordered a lovely burnt orange sweater from Woolovers.

They are lovely! The brown velvet top would suit me (I am a fan of Sahara ) clothes. Will start saving up.

Talking of fizz can I have a glass please and maybe a few canapés ? ? I feel a party coming on.

Pudding123 Sun 01-Sept-19 21:29:13

It all looks great and is really nice quality so in my eyes it's a bargain.ps £40 isn't cheap fizz .

GabriellaG54 Sun 01-Sept-19 21:13:49

Another page full of patterned Nieper tops.

GabriellaG54 Sun 01-Sept-19 21:13:04

Pudding123
£180? that's not a bargain. ?
I could buy a scarf ? for that and have £40 left for a bottle of cheap fizz?...

???

GabriellaG54 Sun 01-Sept-19 21:07:36

Thanks NanKate
Link worked and I love it.
It looks perfect with plain 'bottoms' and that's the trick, as you can pick out any colour from the top and buy plain skirts or trousers.
I might venture into patterns now.
I bet you'll look $1m.

NanKate Sun 01-Sept-19 20:09:51

Yes I agree about the price I usually buy from charity shops as we have 5 good ones in our town but I came over all unnecessary and found myself with my credit card in hand and the rest is history annepl ?

annep1 Sun 01-Sept-19 19:53:30

Lovely top NanKate . Dressy and colourful. Expensive for some folk.

janeainsworth Sun 01-Sept-19 19:20:22

Guilty as charged blush

Whitewavemark2 Sun 01-Sept-19 18:28:47

My guilty secret is clothes. I love them, particular natural quality fibres. I dress classically and they last for ever, so not too bad, but clothes are a real weakness of mine.

Whitewavemark2 Sun 01-Sept-19 18:24:50

I like Niepers dressing gowns.

NanKate Sun 01-Sept-19 17:20:35

Gabriella I haven't learned how to paste photos onto GN yet but this is the top I have ordered called abstract. I love bright colours and will wear with navy trousers. Hope this link works. You may have to copy and paste it into Google.

Just about to walk to the garden centre; I am wearing skinny blue jeggings, blue and white striped t-shirt, and bronze sandals from Cotton Traders. Might pop a light cardi on as it felt a bit nippy when I hung the washing out a few minutes ago. I shall probably change into denim shorts when I get back and do a spot of tidying in the garden (sit in the sun with the Sunday papers and a drink......). Who said that?

Pudding123 Sun 01-Sept-19 10:44:01

Quite nice here in Manchester I am getting ready to meet my sister for lunch..white jeans from mint velvet last year,Karen Millen fine knit jumper in black with Voila emblazoned across the front and black pointy flats from mango ,all bought in the sales for about £180 in all

annep1 Sun 01-Sept-19 10:33:31

Very colourful BlueSapphire.

Riverwalk Sun 01-Sept-19 10:28:39

As I would be Beechnut but I'm going out to lunch!

Beechnut Sun 01-Sept-19 10:24:39

I’m in my shorts, sleeveless top and bare feet Riverwalk I can’t do layers yet and can never think about putting my sandals away until October.

Riverwalk Sun 01-Sept-19 10:17:03

Gawd, what is everyone wearing today, now that Autumn suddenly came upon us?

It's bright, sunny and a bit nippy - had planned to get a few last outing in my cream jeans with a short jacket but all of a sudden they look too summery!

Decisions smile

NotAGran55
That was a savvy move. You couldn't be more on trend if you tried.envyClassics never go out and I like the look but I don't suit double breasted coats or jackets and Burberry trenches are usually double breasted.
