What counts as “old lady clothes” nowadays?

Sorry but the only shoes I can get my feet into are Hotter. They would not be my choice but my orthopaedic problems have overtaken my personal choice.

Gagajo, sorry but I am a Hotter fan. Comfort before beauty these days.
If my feet are comfy, then I can walk or stand for a decent length of time.
I would love to be able to wear leggings and the dresses that I often see, and like, but, my knees and legs are not a pretty sight.
Why don't manufacturers make dresses of a decent length?
Oh well, back to my unfashionable wardrobe. ?

Auntieflo - if you wear leggings - with a long tunic - your knees and legs would not be on show. My legs aren't great but leggings cover a multitude of sins. I must have a long top to cover my bum though!

Lessismore Do not be so foolish. Bigger ladies can and do look stunning. Look around you there are lots of really stylish larger ladies in supermarkets and generally going about their business. Anybody any size any age can look good

Lessismore, position a mirror somewhere in your house that makes it really flattering, and only look in it. It's what I do.

I don't know what old women's clothes are, and luckily for me I don't care.

Those cable knit cardies with enormous buttons look like 'old lady clothes' IMHO.

There's more - sensible sturdy lace-up shoes worn with a tweed skirt and thick stockings.

Can you still get those pinnies that went right over your clothes, sleeveless, and crossed across at the front. My granny used to wear them.

MOnica is right. I've lost my way a bit, clothes wise. So I've started looking at other people, YOUNGER. people my size who look good. I clearly go for 'alternative' but I've had some good ideas. Done nothing about them yet, because it'd involved 2 things I don't like doing. 1) Shopping. 2) Spending money.

My granny used to wear those pinnies as well. Her long hair was always in a hairnet indoors and a smart bun if she went out.

I wear beige because it suits me but never ever with pale colours. Usually with black or very dark brown.

Basically anything from marks and spencer except knickers
Lace up flat shoes
Coats and jackets that always look too big

Well today I have got skinny jeans on but I bought a pair of wide legged culottes this summer and I think they are the coming thing. I love them because they have pockets and they are cooler when it's hot. I'm beginning to worry that my skinny jeans may be on the way out and I don't want to be still wearing them if they are old hat. I think you have to keep watching yoonger people.

I have been wearing cotton traders shorts all the summer.

Sad that shorts weather is finished.

Below knee floral shirtwaister dresses are the height of fashion this autumn and are worn with chunky white trainers. Comfort and style.
I don't rule out elasticated waists as long as they aren't visible.
Just no beige or fleeces!
