Do you remember your Mum or Dad saying that?

What do you think they would have said to these?

(Nearly put me off my porridge!)

Andrea Leadsom is as hard as nails; what a brittle look. I find strange the way businesswomen and some female GPs dress: all bare arms, plunging necklines and see- through blouses. Are they using their sexuality ( not the GPs surely) to get male attention?

Marmight I'm not sure Dominic Cummings' mum does love him. It could explain a lot grin

Marmight Sun 06-Oct-19 20:02:50

Not really my cup of tea. The skirt is a bit short for a woman of her age! Dominic Cummings - well I’m sure his mother loves him .....
My Mum was fairly laid back about my various experimental outfits but she did once refer to a mini skirt as no more than a pelmet. I have one DD who is very conservative (small c) in her dress and another who is wild and whacky and another who loves the latest fashion. I just let them get on with it and kept my own counsel ?

My Mum used to say "you look like a bag of spuds in that" I was size 10 at the time. Lots of other examples. I would never speak to another person like that, but times have changed!
I love Andreas coat! Very cheery and stylish. Dominic Cummings probably wants to look as low key and anonymous as possible!

I'm sure the person living in the shared house , which is probably a complete fleapit, would be most interested to hear you think her dress was too short.

Anyway, well done for giving her a quid.

I bought a copy of the Big Issue today and the seller looked a lot smarter than Cummings! Liked her coat but the dress was too short.

My mother wasn't too bad about my clothes, but my daughter frequently asks me if that's how I'm going out. hmm

I must have been sent to the wrong page because I didn't see anything odd there.

But then after these two ridiculous excretions creations, nothing has seemed weirder than that - and at a wedding too.

Yes, my Mum often said that to me.
My answer was a smiling, 'Yes.'

And the lisle stocking and lace up shoes she'd bought for me, languished along with the over-long tweed skirts and twinsets.

Yes, old lady, static dyed hair and clown makeup.

Skirt too short unless worn with opaque tights.
I too loved Teresa May's style.

Evie64 Fri 04-Oct-19 23:09:21

I was into hippy style. My eldest daughter used to choose my clothing for parents evenings! Cheeky mare!

Cummings looks as if he is trying to recapture his teenage years (mind bet it's all expensive designer stuff). Like AL's coat but she really needs to look at what she wears under it. Boots and a mini just age you.
Never remember my mum and dad saying anything like that. The only thing my mum didn't like was my tendancy to wear black after 15. She did admit when I was older that it actually suited me.

DiscoGran Fri 04-Oct-19 21:18:57

Andrea has dubious taste in clothes. A bit "try hard" I think. Those boots!

tidyskatemum Fri 04-Oct-19 21:04:39

I’m going to have flashbacks of Andrea Ledsom’s outfit for weeks. Sorry, that skirt is too short and the boots....well, a bit too Dick Whittington. Boris probably likes the “slap my thigh” look, or she thinks he does. As for Cummings, he looks as if he’s just been released from prison. Which in my view would be the best place for him. Cue outrage from the rabid Brexiteers.

SalsaQueen Fri 04-Oct-19 20:50:45

In my humble opinion, her clothes are alright, but the dress is too short for a woman of her age. He looks as though he should be selling "The Big Issue"

Hetty58 Fri 04-Oct-19 19:21:42

I never worried and my parents didn't care what I wore. I can remember being really embarrassed, though, when I met a friend for a night out (we were both in our 40s) and she turned up in what looked just like a little silk slip!

Millie22 Fri 04-Oct-19 19:08:13

Don't mean to be unkind but that coat is far too 'busy' for me and she needs to do something with her hair as it's very dated.

Madmaggie Fri 04-Oct-19 17:57:53

My mother would have said "mutton dressed as lamb" whereas I say - you only live once ?

NotTooOld Fri 04-Oct-19 17:54:11

I think AL looks great apart from the hair which needs modernising. DC looks ok, too, but was he really going to a cabinet meeting? I think he's probably wearing a disguise. I would if I was him.

Sallywally1 Fri 04-Oct-19 17:29:28

Esther mcKey looks entirely appropriate.

Andres’s pink coat is ok, but her boots are way too young for her. As for him, least said!

I work still and although things are fairly casual, there is very much a clothing ethic for both genders which I agree with. Professionalism never goes out of fashion and the way we present ourselves makes us appear professional, even if we may not feel it! I work in admin in the nhs and when I wear a black jacket with a black skirt people treat me differently.

GabriellaG54 Fri 04-Oct-19 17:17:25

When my parents took me to buy my first skirt suit, my father made sure that the back slit had a piece of the suiting material behind it. I was 15.

Newatthis Fri 04-Oct-19 17:16:03

My dad used to say 'You're not going out in that belt are you - put a skirt on' Well yes, my mini skirts were a little too short!

MawB Fri 04-Oct-19 17:14:51

And if she must wear a short skirt opaque tights are an essential. A (considerable) glimpse of 50-something thigh is not a good look.

MawB Fri 04-Oct-19 17:13:19

Hit the nail on the head PernillaVanilla - I had always assumed she was much older.???

GabriellaG54 Fri 04-Oct-19 17:13:08

Ms Leadsom needs to cover her knees at her age.

Barmeyoldbat Fri 04-Oct-19 15:37:55

A few years before the mini skirt my friend and I made dresses, using the same pattern, for a special dance we were going to. Neither of us had quite enough material so my dresses had a wide piece of black lace added to the hem and she she added the same lace to the middle of the dress.

My dad went mad when I came downstairs, you can see your knees he shouted. So what would he have said if I had added the bit to the middle of the dress?
