Wow. Doesn't she look great. I love all the outfits she's been photographed in in Pakistan. She looks happy and relaxed too. In fact she looks more beautiful as she's got older.
Not like me to write re fashion or Duchesses but I was so struck by the photos.

Not keen on Cate, looks wrong somehow, although more logical I agree.
Catherine sounds better though for a future queen.

KatyK Wed 16-Oct-19 10:25:30

I assumed it would be Cate, as in Cate Blanchett. Not that it matters in the scheme of things.

I entirely agree re Pakistan and human rights denials especially of women. It was heartening to hear of the increased access to education for girls though. Malala has done a lot to highlight the appalling injustices there.

On a separate note -Imran Khan. I remember him on Parkinson. Gorgeous. Sigh.

I think she was known as Kate by family and friends before she married.
I agree ,she looks lovely and seems very happy.

Anniebach Wed 16-Oct-19 09:53:59

Kate has always been a shortened form of Catherine

KatyK Wed 16-Oct-19 09:48:02

I think she looks and seems lovely. The 'Kate' thing irritates me too. Why 'Kate'? The is no K in her name.

Anniebach Wed 16-Oct-19 08:32:59

Elothan I criticised the media.

Imran Khan in his cricketing days...…

Sigh.....

Oh yes, merlotgran.

crystaltipps Wed 16-Oct-19 08:00:35

What is a “true English rose”?

suziewoozie Wed 16-Oct-19 00:15:21

Oh come on Bradford . Their visit is about legitimising and upholding the Pakistani status quo. There’s no challenge and there will be no change for the abused and exploited women and children of Pakistan. Did you read my link?

paddyann Tue 15-Oct-19 23:22:56

MOST women keep their maiden name nowadays dont they ?Stupid made up title anyway ,means begger all

Eloethan Tue 15-Oct-19 23:20:28

Is it possible for you to contribute to a thread re the monarchy without having a go at Diana anniebach?

SirChenjin Tue 15-Oct-19 23:19:15

I’m glad you said ‘some’ - because for many others, agitating for or aspiring to ‘better’ Western lifestyles will see them facing terrible punishments and death.

BradfordLass72 Tue 15-Oct-19 23:14:00

I don't follow the royals but have just come back from visiting the Christchurch Islamic community, many of whom are from Pakistan and Saudi.

Their attitude (some at least), is if "importnt and successful" western women visit, it actually encourages the women in that country to aspire to, or even agitate for better conditions and rights, as they can see that this can be achieved by western women without loss of dignity.

In strict Islamic states there certainly are women risking all to change things, so support (even from non-Muslims) can be effective.

Gonegirl Tue 15-Oct-19 22:42:20

He's alright now merlot.

suziewoozie Tue 15-Oct-19 22:39:21

It’s an official visit not a state visit if we want to be particular about giving things their proper titles

merlotgran Tue 15-Oct-19 22:36:08

Imran Khan in his cricketing days...…

Sigh.....

SirChenjin Tue 15-Oct-19 22:32:50

Exactly suzie - but let’s forget about that and focus on the positives because Kate/Catherine looks lovely in her frocks

Anniebach Tue 15-Oct-19 22:29:53

I am irritated with the media comparing this visit with Diana’s visit.

This is a State Visit they are representing the Queen as head of
The Commonwealth.

Diana visited twice , both private visits after the divorce and she went there to meet Khan’s family.

And yes, Diana was never a princess

Calendargirl Tue 15-Oct-19 22:28:37

You never hear William call her Kate. He always refers to her as Catherine.
Queen Catherine has a regal ring to it.

And of course Pakistan’s record on women’s rights ..........

Gonegirl Tue 15-Oct-19 22:13:57

I agree with the Kate Middleton thing. It's dreadful.

phoenix Tue 15-Oct-19 22:11:13

Get quite cross at the way some newspapers will still insist on referring to her as "Kate Middleton"

They never referred to Diana Spencer!

(Actually, also got/get cross with the "Princess Diana" thing, she was never that, she was Diana, Princess of Wales)

Pendants corner for me..........

Jane10 Tue 15-Oct-19 22:03:39

I wondered too SirChengin. I was just watching news and saw her walking down the plane steps and thought 'wow'.
I suppose their visit is for diplomatic reasons or something.
