Yes, we mentioned the C word. But only because we're updating our page of Christmas party dresses and wondered if you could help us? Could you post a link to any particular dresses you have your eye on? Are there particular styles, colours or fabrics you look for? Or stay away from? Any brands that you know will always deliver a winner? Because of the length/quality/price tag/fit? Thanks smile

This auto correct is driving me crackers!

I have no idea where the looks came from!

Callistemon Mon 28-Oct-19 23:29:40

I'm sure our M&S looks have hooks on the doors, must check.

RoxieHart Mon 28-Oct-19 21:08:39

Calliston our local Marks and Spencer doesn't have hooks so nowhere to hang your bag.
People then visit the cafeteria and put their bags up onto the tray slide to get at their money.
I have pointed this out but up until the last time there were no hooks

Callistemon Mon 28-Oct-19 17:50:31

I understood your post perfectly Sussexborn - and I agree.

Unfortunately, some public loos don't have hooks on the door and there is nowhere to hang your bag!

We had a black tie dinner last week and I was very pleased with my outfit, with a silk Jacques Vert skirt, a cape style top over a silver cami, with a vintage silver chain mail purse.
EBay and charity shop and cost under £20.
Our local charity shops are pretty great!

Oh for an edit button! The lack is a major flaw on GN. Apologies if my latest message is incomprehensible. I pressed preview and found it had been posted instead!

I noticed that a lot of women were wearing various jumpsuits on our recent holiday and I did wonder how they managed when they needed to pee.

Since reading the report on swabs taken from the bottom of handbags that have been put on toilet floors I go to extreme lengths to make sure nothing but the soles of my shoes are in contact with said floor. I am usually on the slut side of cleaning but the thought of having other people’s pee and poo on my bag and then putting the bag down somewhere in my own home possibly on a table or armchair, makes me cringe. I certainly wouldn’t want to wear clothing that had touched the floor of a public toilet.

I have to wear natural fabrics so am quite limited. It’s been worse since latest Aldara treatment. Within a few minutes of wearing clothing with even a small percentage of man made fibers I look like a pillar box.

No hope! Wasn’t sure if pillar box was the correct wording. Googled it and spent several minutes deciding which pillar box I resembled most! Perhaps I had better stay indoors this Christmas and start searching for my missing brain cells!

And parties can take place any time of day can't they>

paintingthetownred Sun 27-Oct-19 21:13:13

sorry juno . really didn't mean to cause offence, just the format and the graphics of this site caused me some confusion. Sorry

Yes, cangran, thinking of buying that one myself. Or preferably several if I should meet a millionaire anytime soon. .They look so comfortable.

cangran Sun 27-Oct-19 10:15:10

I meant the velvet Seasalt dress!

cangran Sun 27-Oct-19 10:14:11

Love the multi-coloured version of the velvet dress - looks more useful than a fussy party dress (for those of us who don't go to lots of parties!)

GrammaH Sun 27-Oct-19 09:56:15

Glammagran I agree Bombshell prices are on the high side but they do have excellent sales at least twice a year when the prices have at least 50% off, if not more. I also buy from Dolly & Dotty whose prices are right at the other end of the price spectrum, with full price cotton dresses at around £35 or a ridiculous £15- £20 when they have their sales!

Thank you for explaining that painting, of course I understand now. I haven't been a member of GN very long but I have noticed that some posters (clearly not you) post things purely to provoke an argument which was why I felt uncomfortable.

paintingthetownred Sun 27-Oct-19 08:47:34

I've just worked out what it is, sorry.
If there is a very short post, i.e. a line - to me it actually looks as if someone is posting under someone else's heading. Must be the colours of the lines.
Sorry again, no cross intention. Just the way it appears on the screen.

Juno
I doubt that this poster will believe what we say so I will ask HQ to inform her.

Juno56 Sat 26-Oct-19 23:12:30

I've no idea petra, it makes me feel a bit uncomfortable to tell you the truth.

petra Sat 26-Oct-19 22:49:00

Juno
So is she inferring that I'm you or your me.
Either way, I don't like it.

Juno56 Sat 26-Oct-19 22:31:34

I can assure you painting that I am not masquerading as petra. I find it very odd that you should think I am.

glammagran Sat 26-Oct-19 22:26:06

I had a look at the Bombshell website and indeed many of the dresses are lovely and just the style I go for but rarely ever see. I couldn’t afford these prices though. I can’t understand why high street retailers don’t produce cheaper but similar looking dresses. I personally dislike Seasalt because I hate anything with gathering in the waist. Occasionally I buy a dress from Phase 8.

petra Sat 26-Oct-19 22:20:19

Paintingthetownred
not being rude
I know exactly what your inferring so I suggest you get your facts straight.
For a start get the other posters name correct: it's JUNO.

Callistemon Sat 26-Oct-19 22:15:22

Are you getting confused painting?

juno and petra appear to be two different posters.

Barmeyoldbat Sat 26-Oct-19 22:11:35

I have a pair of velvet narrow trousers and love them, don't care if they ever go out of fashion I will still wear them. I am going to make another to to with them and shall pop into John Lewis on Monday to look at patterns and material. Mind you so far I haven't a party to go to. But you never know.

Merry weather. Have you checked out my seasalt party dress link? Non a maternity dress as such but they have all kind of different sizes.

Thought it might look super swish on a pregnant lady.

might be wrong but you could always send it back...
