Scalp Biopsy

I have tried some of the spray stuff, but only really looks ok if you have some hair for it to cling to,
Maybe on for men as their hair is usually very short,it might colour the bald bits but wont make hair look the same length as the rest
I have given up with that,i just wear a hat, the kind popular in the 60s with a peak, coming back into fashion. M&S are selling them now
I have also just sent for a topper,and hope it will look ok, same style and colour as my own hair

Oh and he also takes Minoxodil tablets, which he swears by.

My partner uses something called Mane to cover patches. It's a spray. It's very effective.

I sometimes use it myself to thicken my own hair, which is fine and thinning, but mainly round the front.

A couple of years ago, I had Alopaecia Areata, i.e. 2 bald patches on the back of my head. It did grow back. During that time I bought a spray which covered the bald and was very effective . I have forgotten the name of it. Try googling it if you're interested.
As you get older, the hair does get thin. My hair isn't what it used to be...dark and thick. ?

oldgimmer1 thank you, i will update when i know the result, the dermatologist said it it chronic effluvium, which means lasted longer than 6 months,but i think the biopsy is to rule something else out he mentioned,which i didn't catch as he mumbles

I am thinking about getting a hairpiece for now, but most are for just the crown area ,too much hair for a wig, which i don't want anyway

My granddaughter had a nasty fall and hairline hip fracture. She had to be in a body cast for a couple of months. She lost patches of hair on the top and back of her head (telogen effluvium) but it did grow back.

oldgimmer i started itching all over, including scalp, but didn't realise my hair was falling out until it was pointed out to me, and i was shocked,as it didn't feel any thinner,it is quite thick at the front so didn't see any gaps.and never saw any in the plughole , at that time but have done since
My own Dr said i needed estrogen and put me on Evoral Conti,[i was already in another type] but the hair really became bad, because of the type of progesterone, apparently well known for hair loss
Can't afford a Trichologist privately as none on nhs as far as i know, but the derm is a skin and scalp specialist
I is mainly at the back from the crown down,and i have some hair which covers where it has gone from, if that makes sense,
I did speak to a trichologist online and from what i told her and sent photo's she said the same as the dermatologist that is seems like Telogen effluvium,which can be caused by stress or trauma
I am worried that it could be caused by a hair dye that i just used for roots,as it seems to be in the same area,
Although i have had a very stressful 2 years,last year especially,
Will have stitches out on the 31st,and hopefully soon after get a result, no idea what else it could be

That must be really distressing. Is the itching related to the hair loss?

Have you tried a trichologist rather than a dermatologist?
