Go to a specialist who will style and cut a wig for you.
There is a website called My New Hair with a list of the Trevor Sorbie trained wig stylists.

Once you have the right wig and a good one will look fabulous then view it like false eyelashes or a fake tan ie something to just give yourself a boost.

Hope this helps?

I bought one several years ago when my husband first retired and we went on a 23night Cruise holiday to celebrate. Knowing that some evenings l would be short on time to get ready for Dinner, the extortionate prices of the onboard Hairdressers, and the fact that l would rather spend my time sightseeing by day than sitting in their chair, a wig came in handy. I chose one as near to by own style and colour as possible, and made sure l bought the right size by visiting a local stockest rather than buying by picture alone online.
Some of the cheaper wigs are fairly obvious when on, no artificial skin parting, fibre that resembled nylon dolls hair, and a poor fit ‘one size fits all’, which are often far too small.
Revlon do some nice wigs, and l have also had a couple of hair piece clips off them in the past for creating a quick curly upto with my own hair, and managed to get a really good colour match. My own hair has always been quite fine, so l did have my wig professionally thinned and styled so as not to look obvious and ‘too much’. I wasn’t the only one onboard to use a wig in this way, some ladies were brave enough to have a selection of styles and colours that gave them a totally different look each evening, to a point where at a glance it rather looked like their husband was into wife swapping!

I have thin hair where my scalp shows through in places. I've often toyed with the idea of a wig but what concerns me most is this. I wouldn't wear it constantly so I would be uneasy about seeing people with it on one time and not others.
Does anyone else use them on and off and how do you get on?
