I'm approaching 70, and love swimming. Unfortunately I go in looking well kemp, and come out looking like I've been dragged through an hedge.
I tried a swimming cap to protect my grey/white hair, but I looked dreadful, If I don't protect my hair it suffers from the chlorine.
I also walk home so, ideas on how to look reasonably decent afterwards please. A woolly hat hides my messy locks in winter, but what can I do in summer.
Ideas to protect my hair from chlorine while swimming, and look decent afterwards please.

I used to use a protection cream on my hair when swimming and a swimming hat.
Have a read here for tips.

I always wet my hair in the shower before getting in the pool and rinse as soon as I get out. Swimming is so good for you I really wouldn’t worry what it looks like on the walk home the health benefit to you is more important. Not sure what else you can do about the chlorine.

Another swimming fan here. I use a cap as it reduces drag ? and protects my hair. I care not what I look like, life is too short. I just shampoo and comb through with leave in conditioner and leave my hair wet afterwards. I swim 5 times a week usually.

Have you used a chlorine removing shampoo? Some say it helps.

I swim a lot and always shower my hair before I go in the water as wet hair absorbs less pool water. I always wear a cap, I wear goggles too as my head is underwater so clearly I don’t care what I look like.

The time in the pool is far outweighed by how I look at other times when my hair matters.

I have used sun protection spray on holidays and use a clarifying shampoo weekly. Most regular swimmers wear caps at our pool.

Once out of the pool I wash and dry my hair, which is usually enough for me to look decent. If you don’t feel that this is enough could you tie an accessory into your hair or a bandeau scarf on the days you can’t wear a hat?
