As for a few quid - I bought a thin waterproof from a well known High Street chain and it leaked. I could not get my money back because I had lost my receipt and, as said mac had been reduced, only got the price of a coffee in return
I bought one on offer from Joules for about a fiver more than the M&S one and it is far better quality.
In fact, a binbag would have been better quality than the M&S one!
I bought 3 dresses for grandchildren before Christmas and had to send them all back they were just so badly made. One had stitching at the waist that was so wonky that the skirt wasn't even nearly level. One was a cotton jersey that had been stretched on the overlocker so that the pattern was badly warped on one side and the third was a navy heavy jersey with white stars on. That one was really a heavy white jersey with the navy over printed very badly. It was really horrible fabric. I don't know what they are doing. It was my first purchase from them for years. Such a disappointment.
I bought some beautiful Swedish dresses instead. No problems there, and the same prices (or possibly cheaper). It's no good buying British if it's all rubbish.
NotSpaghetti, I only caught the tail end of a TV news item this week where they showed on the screen names of clothing companies where production is being affected by the events in China. The two I noticed were Primark and Joules.
