It might be something new and stylish. Something you’ve bought to wear for a special occasion. Something that you save for ‘best’, or that simply makes you feel great every time you put it on.

It might be something old and worn. Something you wouldn’t even wear out of the house, but that’s so comfy you just can’t bear to part with it.

In the spirit of sharing, these are ours (below). Now tell us yours!

Cari - pyjama bottoms. First thing I put on when I get home. Hideous but sooooo comfortable.
Lara - black leather boots. “Smart with a tiny heel that makes them look smart but still comfortable.”
Tasha - torn between two midi dresses and still deciding which!
Sarah - stripy top
Sadaf - long grey jumper. “It has holes in from wearing it so much. Just ignore my attempts at stitching it up if you see me in it”

I love my black, jersey pull-on trousers (M&S) that I like to wear with a black jumper with a big, cream heart on the front (Next) - I have had them for years but if I am not going anywhere special they are my go- to- outfit.

It’s a bright pink cashmere scarf that is soft and warm, it brightens my complexion and it is very useful.

my favourite is from Joe Browns too Anna Pops. It's a Parka type coat with a dancing deer pattern along the bottom. It was £34 ,I saw one in the sale at Meadowall, but they didn't have my size,I found one online on the outlet page of the website. It was only the same price as the parka coats in supermarkets, and has had many admirers.I also have a Joe Brown cardigan, and a swan dress,I need to find my next bargain from there now.

My Hobbs smart black coat. I saw it full price and couldn’t justify it then saw the last one and it was my size in the sale - and I had a voucher for another ten percent off. I love it. It always feels great.

I am a collector of boots... Newest pair are definitely my favourites at the moment. Look a bit like Dr Martens but with zips ?

A light cotton full length kaftan bought in Noosa, Aus some years ago. Can be worn on the beach, in the evenings to fend off the mozzies , at home in the evenings after a bath but mainly I use it to preserve my dignity when staying away. A type of not dressing gown which can be slung on in seconds.

Has to be my PJs and a warm fleecy top to wear over them. In the winter the time I put them on seems to get earlier each day until sometimes it's the middle of the afternoon. Makes me feel really decadent!

My cosy fleece lined trousers for dog walking they even wipe clean to remove mud Wish I had bought several pairs in every colour

A lovely navy & cream fleece-lined cagoule that I bought in Bar Harbor in New England in the US a few years ago whilst on a Holland & America cruise and the best thing was that it was in a Sale and only cost about £12. I caught the end of the zip in a door whilst it was closing so it got crushed to pieces but I love the jacket so much that I've replaced the zip and it's as good as new.

I love my jeans. I tend to live in them day to day and only dress up on very special occasions. I buy mine at M&S and have several pairs in different styles and colours.

Bubblyone very stylish. smile

My favourite item of clothing is a Cornish Fisherman's Smock handed on to me about twenty years ago by my father-in-law when he got too bit for it. It's a sort of faded maroon/red with a Durgan Regatta logo on it and I wear it whenever I need to cover up to do messy jobs.

A light cover up kimono in varied floral blues, had it for years, bought from a clothing chain. Didn't cost much but its floaty and is so versatile, pop it on over trousers and a tee and I feel I can hold my head up and go anywhere. And I've had it so long I've seen them mentioned in some magazines as making a comeback!!

What a useful thread for any fashion shop looking for what women really want!

A pair of jeans I've had for longer than I care to remember! They still look great, are very comfortable to wear and I feel good every time I put them on. I've never found a pair of jeans thats looks as good (or half as comfortable) on me since.

Hello lurkers

Do join in

For me it is my kilt, nothing like the swirl as you march along, pipes in hand and kilt a’swirling

My favourite item of clothing is a dress bought on impulse from Hobbs in a sale. It skims where it should and can be dressed up,or down. It feels comfortable and gives me confidence when I wear it. The best impulse buy I've ever made!

Fennel Mon 09-Mar-20 16:17:20

What I'm wearing now - a long wool jumper, bluebell blue, from Woolovers, some years ago. No pilling after many cool machine washes.
Their current ones are ok, but quality has gone down.

Fennel Mon 09-Mar-20 16:20:27

ps and when it's really cold, an unfashionable coat of pure wool/mohair, with big pockets, which I bought in a sale for £16 20 years ago.

clareken Mon 09-Mar-20 16:20:27

Welcome all new posters. When I was twelve I was bought a blue and white striped shirt, with a grandad collar and turn up sleeves. I wore it constantly, so much so that my mum used to steal it from my room to wash.

grannyactivist Mon 09-Mar-20 16:30:26

Ah - just had a thought.

My favourite garment of all time was a black denim coat that had a really unusual cut; I wore it until it was so tatty that I eventually had to let it go, but I still find myself hoping that I will spy something similar. I wore that coat all through the early years of my marriage and loved the way it made me feel; it's one of a very few items that I would say I've had a sentimental attachment to.

I love my red check skirt, a bit on the short side but with opaque tights I can get away with it. My husband is always happy to see my legs and I like to make an old man happy!

annsixty Mon 09-Mar-20 17:40:44

A full length black linen skirt.
I bought it to wear to my M’s funeral and thought I would never wear again, wrong!! I love it and can dress it up with a nice top or down with a t-shirt.
