Which Mascara?

I have for many years been looking for a suitable Mascara. One which does not look gloggy (if that's a word!) one which your makes your eyelashes curl, separate and longer than they really are. I have tried many, cheap and expensive ones but to no avail. I may, of course, be too fussy (I have been known to be before) but that's all I want a good Mascara - not too much to ask is it? Any suggestions please? - thank you .

I always go back to max Factor 2000 calorie. Not perfect but the best I have found.

I find Lancome mascara the best

Benefits there real is the best mascara I've found. It's around £20 but quite often on offer in Boots

I agree with May7 about Benefit but I’ve only tried their “Roller Lash “ it’s fab if you have skimpy eyelashes and doesn’t clump them together .

I keep going back to my Collection Lash Surge after Mumsnet recommendations - it's a snip at £.4.99 and absolutely brilliant.

I use Maybelline Colossal certainly no clumping just individual lashes cost about £7 I think.

I have to be careful because of allergic reactions and I've found in the past that the more expensive the mascara, the more reaction I have!

I use 'Essence Get Big Lashes Volume Boost Waterproof Mascara' (I buy it in Wilko), or Rimmel Waterproof Mascara. Essence is incredibly cheap (about £2.50!!), but amazing - really is waterproof, despite the best efforts of all the rain I've been out in!

I agree with May7 and Yorksherlass re Benefit mascara. I use 'Rollerlash' for everyday and 'They're Real' for when 'out-out'. Find both products really good, and easy to remove. Mid price range but lasts well. Have also got 'They're Real Big Bang' which really does give an extra boost to the normal 'They're Real' and to be honest haven't used it much as its a bit too 'effective'- eyelashes then catch on my specs! wink

I am rubbish with mascara. It seems to smudge no matter how much I spend.

My one is a tubing mascara. It's Boots No.7 Stay Perfect. It's easy to remove too just washes off with warm water.

I always use Clarins but it does need to be taken off with a remover. Bobbi Brown is very nice n easy to use. Dior Show is wonderful if you want BIG lashes.

Estée Lauder it actually makes my sparse eyelashes look plentiful and natural without using half a dozen coats.

My skin seems to be changing , I’m 69 , and have always had good skin. Also my eyes are now itchy , sore and would like some recommendations for Cream based eye shadow and mascara that doesn’t irritate Thank you

Ilovecheese Wed 15-Apr-20 18:28:12

Grannydotty When I looked at the Boots website, the mascara all seemed to be sold out. That was a week or so ago though.

I too struggle with mascara. My eyes always start to water when I wear it, so tend not to use it at all. My eyes never used to water when I wore mascara, but they do now, is it an age thing?

Benefit every time for me

I’ve tried lots of different mascaras over the years and always went back to Max Factor 2000 calorie until I read an article in a magazine and it recommended Wilko’s Essence Lash Princess Volume Mascara. I thought I’d give it a try and have used it ever since. At only £3 it’s saved me a lot of money and for me it is as good as Max Factor.

MissAdventure Thu 14-May-20 10:36:40

Oh, I'm definitely off to Wilko to try it, when it's doable.

Nortsat Thu 14-May-20 10:37:27

I always go back to YSL.
I currently have a Burberry Cat Lashes, with a ‘revolutionary’ brush - hmmm. I bought it because it was on special offer - hmmm.

After this one is finished, it’s back to YSL Volume Effet for me and it’s currently got a £7 reduction in Debenhams...

Have just bought a mascara from a pound shop - waste of a pound!

MissAdventure Thu 14-May-20 11:09:35

Rather a pound wasted than the cost of some which don't last/smudge/irritate/give off fumes/don't dry....

I mourn the loss of outdoor girl high performance.

Natural ingredients, completely cruelty free, not cheap but kind to eyes (and other creatures).

Blast was in Wilko yesterday.... cannot resist a bargain!
