Lurkers' week: What’s the one beauty/grooming product you can’t live without?

(We’ve picked up loads of great recommendations from gransnetters over the years - thank you - so very much looking forward to adding to our lists. This despite the fact we had some nasty near-injuries with the hair plucking spring thing that was very en vogue on the forums a few years back)

Rimmel nail polish reminds me of my first Saturday job and I bought it with my first pay packet addicted ever since.

I've never been one for cosmetics, it makes me feel like a freshly painted wall. I do like to keep my skin hydrated with a light touch of E45 cream but the one product I could not do without is my hair conditioning masque.

Mascara for me too, though like others I’m still on the search for the ideal one. I don’t want a curved or spiral or huge brush, but a straight one. I’d like one that doesn’t go claggy or dry up after a month or so. And in brown, not black. Used to like Max Factor 2000 calories but I think they’ve changed it somehow, it lacks oompf.

For me it’s got to be Body Shops Vitamin E Rich Moisturiser & Revlon Chubby Sticks Lipsticks.

Can’t go out without my lippy!

Mascara, that's the only make up ,I wear

jacalpad Tue 10-Mar-20 19:04:50

Hair straighteners for me. I do like to wear eyeshadow and mascara if I am going out.

glammanana Tue 10-Mar-20 18:21:07

Dior liquid foundation a bit pricey but worth every penny.

Yangste1007 Tue 10-Mar-20 18:13:52

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish
Origins tinted moisturiser with 40 SPF
Clinique Power Lash Mascara

Cam69 Tue 10-Mar-20 18:07:06

Got to be foundation as my skin is quite 'patchy' and red in places so my foundation evens it out - love IT which also has SPF.

mrshat Tue 10-Mar-20 17:42:39

Liz Earle Superskin Moisturizer !

Love eyeshadow, mostly neutral shades and coloured eye pencil. I do my eyes every day and have told my DD to make sure my eyes are made up when I'm lying in my coffin! I know I'm an eccentric old lady, but do love my eye makeup smile

Didolizzy Tue 10-Mar-20 16:54:55

First post. Couldn't be without Laura Geller balance n brighten or an eyebrow 'filler inner'

Sawsage2 Tue 10-Mar-20 16:52:54

Head and shoulders shampoo. The TV advert is actually true!

seadragon Tue 10-Mar-20 16:43:59

Natural Collection lipstick from Boots - sadly discontinued last year... I'd only been using it a few months having assumed it couldn't be any good at only £2 a tube... I had planned to ginger up Gransnet in a protest campaign but never got round to it. I comment occasionally on posts but haven't started one yet...I don't think...... Everything else feathers all over my face now I can no longer get a replacement Clinique lip brush.... I may have to go naked into the world...

BStP Tue 10-Mar-20 16:39:05

I cannot live without the Body shop Vitamin E moisturiser

Ellie Anne Tue 10-Mar-20 16:37:27

Hair straighteners. But I wish I could find a mascara that didn’t go everywhere and look awful

Millie22 Tue 10-Mar-20 16:09:59

Impossible really to have just one product so
Vaseline
Nivea cream
L'oreal mascara

geraniam a 'lurker' is someone who reads the threads, but hasn't yet posted - mostly through a lack of confidence I think. GNHQ has set up a lot of threads (like this one) to encourage new posters who have been 'lurkers'. smile

Youngatheart51, tightlining is an eyeliner technique in which you line your upper waterline. By placing the eyeliner right into the lash line of your top lashes, you tightline your eyes and create an illusion of dark, dense lash roots.
If you type it into Youtube, you'll find an array of videos that illustrate it.
It's good for hooded eye's in particular.

geraniam Tue 10-Mar-20 15:46:14

What is a Lurker please?

Jani Tue 10-Mar-20 15:25:10

Where do I begin as I love make-up - but can’t decide between my lipstick and my false eyelashes as they make so much difference to my small eyes. I have put them on since about the age of twenty - they aren’t great big ones - just natural and so quick to put on as have done it for so long now.

SynchroSwimmer Tue 10-Mar-20 15:22:52

Clarins self-tanning gel for body - use a tiny dab on my face every other day - and look like (an old!) bronze goddess ?
